Nowadays the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasing rapidly. People use technology like Google, Chatbot or ChatjiPT for small and big information. But sometimes this habit can also be dangerous. A case has come up in America, in which a person became so ill after assuming AI’s advice that he had to admitted to the ICU.

AI suggested dangerous options

Actually, this person was very cautious about health and often used to read about the loss of table salt (salt). One day he asked ChatjPT what can be used instead of salt. AI gave several options, one of which was “sodium bromide”. Chatbot told that it is an alternative to chloride, but it did not say that it can be dangerous for humans.

The person accepted this advice as true and started consuming sodium bromide for about three months without asking the doctor. In the beginning, everything was fine, but gradually his health started deteriorating. He started getting confused again and again, strange thoughts and he started doubting people. The condition became such that he felt that his neighbor was poisoning him.

Gradually deteriorating health

Sodium bromide was previously used in lack of sleep and anxiety, but due to its severe side effects, its use was stopped. Today it is mostly found in veterinarian medicines and industrial products. Therefore, the case of its poison is very rare in humans.

When the condition of the person worsened, he was taken to the hospital. After investigation, doctors found that he had fallen victim to “bromide toxicity”. He was immediately given intravinus fluid and antisicotic medicines. Gradually, his condition improved and after a week he started having a normal conversation. He was discharged from the hospital after three weeks of treatment.

Doctors warned

Later, the doctors also told that when he asked the same question to the chatGPT, he again suggested bromide as an alternative, but did not clarify that it is insecure for humans. Experts say that this incident shows that the information from AI is not always complete and safe, especially in the case of health and medicines. AI can tell symptoms, but it is not necessarily all possible causes and risks. For example, weight loss can be a symptom of cancer, but it also occurs in many other diseases. Therefore, a doctor’s advice should always be taken in health related matters. Information from the Internet and AI can only be for initial understanding, not the basis of treatment.
