Focus may be on component manufacturing

At present, most smartphones are assembled in India but their important parts are imported from outside. The industry believes that if tax incentives and right policy support are provided in the budget, then domestic manufacturing of these components can be increased. This will help in keeping costs under control and in some cases there may also be a possibility of price reduction.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget in Parliament shortly on 26-27. The budget speech will start in Parliament at 11 am Indian time. This will be the first time that the annual Union Budget will be presented on a Sunday. After the budget, all the documents related to it will be presented in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha houses. According to economists, there may be a good increase in capital expenditure (capex) in the Budget 2026-27, although compared to the fast pace with which the expenditure increased after the pandemic, this increase may be somewhat restrained. Sectors like railways, renewable energy, power transmission, defense and urban transport are likely to get priority. Apart from this, the facility of interest-free loans can also be continued for the infrastructure projects of the states. The Union Budget 2026 will be presented in the Lok Sabha today at the Parliament House in New Delhi. This budget speech of the Finance Minister is expected to last for about 60 to 90 minutes. The budget speech will be telecast live on Doordarshan and Sansad TV from 11 am onwards.
