Bulaki Shah’s name associated with the streets of Lahore is again in the headlines today. Sometimes he was such a big moneylender that rich landlords were also considered to be his debtor. The thumbs and signs of big nobles were recorded in his books. It is said that their fear was so much that the children used to tremble, but they used to give help to the needy women with respect.

Now recently a book is in discussion, which mentions his stories. These stories have once again made his name alive. Let us know who Bulaki Shah is… what was his fear and how was his rich. Let’s understand this in detail about this.

Was big moneylenders of history

In the history of Lahore, Bulaki Shah’s name is still remembered as a big moneylender. At that time, when people were forced to take loans to perform money and social rituals, then only moneylenders like Bulaki Shah had their last hope. He was famous for helping not only rich landlords but also middle class families and especially women.

Used to give special respect to women

According to the BBC report, a person of every class used to reach Bulaki Shah. The thumbs and signatures of big landlords were registered in his register. The special thing was that he used to give great respect and respect to women. There would be a separate meeting for women in them, where they would have given their needs, whether it is marriage, any celebration or sudden expense. If someone had mortgaged the jewelery, Bulaki Shah would be sure and gave the money. This was the reason that he had become an example among the moneylenders.

This was Bulaki Shah’s richness

Talking about Bulaki Shah’s richness, an anecdote of his understanding and strictness is connected to the market. When he came to know that his son had often started going there, one night he himself also reached there and sat in front of the son. Bulaki Shah used to spend twice as much as the son spent on the dancers. Gradually, the son realized that there is no one from his personality, but only by wealth.

After this, he stopped going to Tabi Bazaar. Then the people of the street, who were suffering losses, sent a delegation and pleaded with Bulaki Shah that they should send their son to Tabi Bazaar, but they flatly refused and did not even accept the returned amount.

The fear of Bulaki Shah’s eyes

Bulaki Shah’s fear of people used to be seen by seeing his building. The children used to be scared by his name. The fear of his fear was that if a child, elderly or any other person is coming out of his building, he would definitely salute Bulaki Shah. Many times his fear on the children used to be so strong that if Bulaki Shah looked at the child, he would urinate standing and standing. But Bulaki Shah used to answer Salam and give blessings to the children.

Many times the court also got rounds

Bulaki Shah used to pledge the land of the rich. Not only this, many times had to reach the courts in this affair. According to a case registered in the Civil Judges of October 1901, he has given European Officer of Railways T.G. Achers were lent at Rs 1500 at three percent interest. Achers paid interest, but did not return the original amount. The matter reached the court, where the court described the rate of interest highly, but because it was written by the contract across, Bulaki Shah finally received Rs 2065.

Partition changed life

The Indo-Pakistan partition also changed the life of Bulaki Shah. It is said that one of his sons was murdered during the riots. This shock broke them from inside. According to the reports, he became unusual in the last days and the pages of his books were seen flowing in the drains of Gumti Bazaar in Lahore. After partition, many borrowers remained in Pakistan and the money could not be returned.

Today the biggest moneylender building turned into ruins

In today’s era, his old building in Gumti Bazaar of Lahore has turned into ruins. Now there is a business of shoes and color-chemical. Bulaki Shah’s name is now alive in stories and gloves. He was not just a moneylender, but was an important part of the social fabric of that era, where the relationship of debt, trust and honor used to run together.
