On December 31, 2025, the Union Cabinet approved several important decisions related to telecom, infrastructure and export sectors, which will impact the country’s connectivity, economic growth and employment.

Vodafone Idea, which is stuck in debt in the telecom sector, got a big relief package; AGR dues of ₹87,695 crore were allowed to be repaid over 10 years from FY2032–FY2041, which will reduce pressure on cash flow and maintain competition.

In infrastructure, NH-326 widening project in Odisha (₹1,526 crore) and Nashik–Solapur–Akkalkot six-lane highway in Maharashtra (₹19,142 crore) got green signal, which will reduce travel time and increase employment.

Market Access Support worth ₹4,351 crore was launched for exports, which will provide global push to tourism, textiles, defense and healthcare sectors.

The Union Cabinet meeting on 24 December 2025 approved the expansion of Delhi Metro. The central government will spend Rs 12,015 crore on this project. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told in the briefing that about 65 lakh people travel by Delhi Metro every day, while on festivals or special occasions the number of passengers increases to beyond 80 lakh.

New metro project will be completed in 3 years

Under this project, 13 new metro stations will be built, in which there will be 10 underground stations and 3 elevated stations. This project is expected to be completed in 3 years. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, ‘The Union Cabinet has approved Phase 5A of Delhi Metro, which will have 13 stations. A new 16 kilometer long line will be laid at a cost of Rs 12,015 crore. With this, Delhi Metro network will be more than 400 kilometers.

• 9.9 km track will be extended from Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, which will cost Rs 9,570.4 crore.
• 2.3 kilometer track will extend from Aerocity to Airport Terminal-1. Its cost will be Rs 1,419.6 crore.
• Rs 1,024.8 crore will be spent to extend the 3.9 kilometer track from Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj.

A loan of Rs 5 thousand crore will be taken for this project.

The Central Government will give Rs 1,759 crore for the expansion of Delhi Metro, while the Delhi Government also has to give the same amount. The remaining loan of about Rs 5 thousand crore will be taken. The central government says that the metro expansion will reduce pollution and traffic in Delhi.

India’s largest metro network in Delhi

Delhi Metro is India’s largest and busiest metro system, which is operated by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Delhi Metro connects the city to surrounding NCR areas, including Noida, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Bahadurgarh.

Delhi Metro is the most successful metro network in the country. There are 10 color coded lines and more than 250 metro stations on this network. These include underground and elevated stations. Apart from this, there is a museum at the Supreme Court Metro station where people can also experience running the metro.

Many important decisions were approved in the meeting of Rajasthan Cabinet and Council of Ministers held on Wednesday (December 3) under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. The government approved the Rajasthan Public Trust Amendment Act on the lines of the Centre, after which one will no longer have to go to jail for minor mistakes. In many laws, the provision of only fine has been made instead of imprisonment. Major decisions were also taken in the meeting on tourism, compassionate appointment, Overseas Rajasthani Policy and airport development.

Jail sentence abolished, only fine in many laws

The government has abolished such provision in 11 laws, in which one had to go to jail even for a minor mistake. Now in such situations only financial penalty will have to be given.

Cabinet Ministers Jogaram Patel and Sumit Godara said that the purpose of these changes is to end the situation of sending people to jail unnecessarily and to promote ease of living and ease of doing.

Now 10 times more fine for cutting trees

Major changes have been made in the rules related to forest area. The fine for cutting trees for the first time has been increased from Rs 100 to Rs 1000. For doing this for the second time, the fine has been increased from Rs 200 to Rs 2000.

Now there will be no jail time for cutting wood from the forest or causing damage to forest wealth, only fine. Now there will be no jail term but only fine for grazing animals in forest department forests. The government says that people will follow the rules due to stiff fines, but there will be no need to send them to jail for common mistakes.

Now only fine for wastage of water

Changes have also been made in the law regarding unnecessary wastage of water. Earlier in some cases there was a provision for jail sentence, but now it has been changed to only financial penalty. Similar amendments have been made in many other laws also.

New tourism policy approved in Rajasthan

The state government gave green signal to the new tourism policy in the meeting. This time, plans have been prepared comprehensively linking tourism with religion, culture and bravery. Religious places will be promoted and tourism activities will be developed around them. Tourism circuit and bravery circuit will be established in the state.

In the Bravery Circuit, stories of bravery of brave fighters will be taken to the tourists. The government’s aim is to include Rajasthan among the top-2 states of the country in terms of tourism. Currently it is at number five.

District level tourist development committees will be formed in all the districts. The chairman of this committee will be the Collector and its main objective will be to improve the safety, facilities and arrangements of tourists.

Relaxation in rules of compassionate appointment

Earlier, the dependents of the deceased had to apply for compassionate appointment within 90 days. Now this period has been increased to 180 days, which will provide great relief to the affected families. Changes in the already decided policy for Overseas Rajasthanis and Non-Residential Rajasthanis (NRRs) have been approved.

Investment coordinators will be appointed in Rajasthan Foundation chapters. It has also been decided to organize Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas on a grand scale this time. At the same time, the government has increased the validity of waiting list in recruitment examinations from 6 months to 12 months. This will increase flexibility and transparency in the selection process.

Kishangarh Airport in Ajmer district will be developed as an alternative to Jaipur Airport. This will provide convenience to the passengers traveling to and from the capital and will also reduce traffic pressure.

After the swearing in of the new Nitish government in Bihar, now everyone’s eyes are fixed on the first cabinet meeting. It is believed that the first cabinet meeting can be called in the first week after November 25, where many big schemes of NDA’s election manifesto ‘Sankalp Patra 2025’ are likely to be approved. This meeting will set the direction for the new cabinet and a roadmap will be revealed for the implementation of the promises made before the elections.

In the manifesto released before the elections, it was promised to start ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana’ to make women economically stronger. An important decision regarding the budget and structure of this scheme is possible in the first cabinet meeting.

Possibility of discussion on MSP law for farmers

To provide relief to the farmers, the NDA had assured to implement the MSP Guarantee Act and increase the Kisan Samman Nidhi. In the first meeting, initial steps in this direction or decision on formation of a committee can be taken.

Big announcement for infrastructure also possible

Before the elections, Nitish government had promised 7 new expressways in Bihar, 3600 km rail modernization and metro service in four cities besides Patna. Therefore, the start of a big project or preparation of DPR can be announced in the cabinet. Especially the initial preparations for Gaya and Darbhanga Metro may be expedited.

Decision on Panchamrit scheme for the poor also

Announcements like free ration for poor families, free electricity up to 125 units, free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh, permanent house and pension scheme are also going to be discussed. An immediate decision is expected on one or two of these points.

Nitish cabinet meeting: A cabinet meeting was held on Tuesday (June 17, 2025) under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. In this meeting, 20 important proposals have been approved. Industrial sector will be developed in Nawada, Bihar

In Nawada, 70.05 acres of land was transferred to the Department of Industries so that the industrial area could be developed there. The service of retired 1717 soldiers of the Indian Army working in the Special Occupation Force (SAF) of Bihar Police has been further extended for one year (2025-26). Farmers will get a reasonable price for crops and increase income from 2025-26, government procurement of pulses and oilseeds in Bihar will be started at the minimum support price.

New law passes regarding recruitment and service rules of coaches

Approval has been received to build a 5-star hotel on the land of Pataliputra Ashok, Hotel in Patna. This project will be in the PPP model. The new law 2025 has been passed in Rajgir’s International Cricket Stadium and State Sports Academy regarding the recruitment and service rules of coaches. At the same time, for the purpose of providing relief to farmers in drought -hit areas, Rs 2.58 crore has been approved for recharge studies of five major rivers, Son, Gandak, Kosi, Morhar and Punpun.
