OpenAI ChatGPT: A new lawsuit filed in a California court has raised deep concerns over the use of Artificial Intelligence. A woman, referred to as Jane Doe to protect her identity, has alleged that ChatGPT encouraged her ex-boyfriend’s abusive behavior and ignored her warnings.

AI chat increases confusion

According to Tech Crunch report, a 53-year-old Silicon Valley entrepreneur kept talking to ChatGPT for several months. During this time he became convinced that he had discovered a cure for sleep apnea and that some powerful people were after him. It is alleged that in this mental state, he started harassing his ex-girlfriend and using the information received from ChatGPT, he started stalking and harassing her.

OpenAI ignored warnings

The victim says that she had warned OpenAI three times that this person could become a danger to others. Even the company’s systems had flagged his activity as being related to mass-casualty weapons. Despite this, the company did not close his account completely. The woman is now demanding from the court that the person’s account should be blocked permanently, he should be stopped from creating new accounts and his chat history should be kept safe.

AI told the woman wrong

It has been said in the lawsuit that when their relationship broke down, the accused started taking advice from ChatGPT. Instead of opposing her words, the AI ​​justified them and called the woman wrong and unstable. On this basis, he allegedly prepared fake psychological reports and sent them to the woman’s family, friends and office, which tarnished her image.

Account reactivated despite dangerous content

According to the report, in August 2025, OpenAI’s system had closed his account due to dangerous activity. But the very next day the human team restarted it after review. The screenshots that surfaced later showed serious topics like violence list expansion and fetal suffocation calculation which raise questions on his mental condition.

No response received even after complaint

The victim sent a formal complaint to OpenAI in November and told that she has been living in an environment of fear for the last several months. He also said that this technology is being used as a weapon against him. The company described the complaint as serious but after this no concrete action or response was given.

The matter became more serious, the accused arrested

Later, the accused sent threatening voicemails to the woman. In January, he was arrested on serious charges like making a bomb threat and assault with a deadly weapon. However, later he was considered mentally unfit to stand trial and was sent to a mental health center. According to reports, due to a flaw in the process, he may come out soon.
