He said that the biggest tragedy of Bihar’s health system is that even today there is no dedicated super specialty hospital available for cancer treatment in the state. This is the reason why thousands of cancer patients from Bihar are forced to go to Mumbai, Delhi or Chennai for treatment. This is not their choice, but a compulsion. When there is no provision of treatment in one’s own state, then where should the common man go?

Buxar MP said that the amount of Rs 314 crore is not a small amount. With this amount, the foundation of a modern cancer super specialty hospital can be laid in Bihar. Such a hospital where the patients of Bihar do not have to travel hundreds of kilometers for treatment, nor have to suffer in trains, nor have to lose their lives due to lack of treatment.

The RJD leader said that the government argues that Mumbai’s Bihar Bhawan is being built for the convenience of patients coming for treatment, but the truth is that this facility will not be for common patients, but for officers, leaders and special classes. A poor cancer patient is already broke due to the expenses of medicines, tests and operations. It is impossible for him to get treatment in Mumbai. In such a situation, which patient is the government helping by building the building?

He said that this decision actually highlights the thinking of the government. The government has accepted that providing better treatment in Bihar is not its priority, hence it is making arrangements to send the patients outside. This policy is not only inhumane, but also an open admission of the failure of Bihar’s health system.

The MP says that if the government had really thought about the welfare of the patients, instead of building a building in Mumbai, Rs 314 crore would have been spent on cancer hospitals, super specialty medical colleges and modern district hospitals in Bihar. What is needed today is that the government should understand that Bihar does not need a building in Mumbai, Bihar needs treatment at its own place. Bihar needs cancer hospitals, not concrete buildings.
