In today’s time, cancer has become the biggest deadly disease. But the good thing is that if it is detected in the early stages, then its treatment can be easy and effective, yet only about 29 percent of the people in India get tested on time, that is, in most of the cases the disease is detected when it has progressed. Experts say that with regular screening, cancer can be eradicated and lives can be saved. So let us know why cancer screening is important and which tests should be done when.

Why is cancer screening important?

The biggest danger of cancer is that it does not show symptoms initially, by the time the effects of the disease start appearing, it has often spread inside the body. If cancer is detected in the first stage, then the treatment is easier, costs less and the chances of recovery are higher. This is the reason why doctors repeatedly say to get checked on time.

What is the situation in India?

Every year about 14 lakh new cancer cases are reported in India. Most of these are detected late. Overall, only 29 percent of cancers are detected in the early stages. In which only 15 percent of breast cancer cases are detected on time. Cervix cancer is diagnosed early in only about 33 percent cases. There itself
Oral and colorectal cancer are caught early in less than 20 percent of cases. These figures show that India is in great need of awareness and regular testing.

Which tests should be done when?

According to the government and health experts, every person should get some important cancer tests done after a certain age.

1. Mouth cancer – All adults above 30 years of age, especially men who consume tobacco or alcohol, should undergo oral examination (VIA/VILI) once a year. In this, the doctor examines the inside of the mouth with acetic acid or Lugol’s iodine.

2. Cervix Cancer – Women ages 21-29 should have a Pap test every three years. Women ages 30-65 should have a Pap test, HPV test, or just the Pap test every three years.

3. Breast Cancer – Women above 30 years of age should undergo clinical breast examination every year. After 40 years, it is necessary to get mammography or ultrasound done every 1-2 years. If someone in the family has had breast cancer, then testing should be started early.

4. Colorectal Cancer – People above 45 years of age are advised to get a colonoscopy or stool-based test done every 5–10 years.

5. Lung Cancer – Heavy smokers aged 55-80 are advised to undergo a low-dose CT scan once a year. This investigation is not necessary for common people.

6. Prostate Cancer – Men above 50 years of age are advised to undergo PSA blood test and digital rectal examination. If someone in the family has had this cancer, then investigation should be started in advance.

Cancer is such a disease that people get scared on hearing its name. This disease is often detected when it has spread widely in the body. But if it is detected in time, treatment becomes easier and the chances of recovery also increase manifold. Therefore, doctors now give more emphasis not only on treatment but also on prevention and early detection. Health experts say that especially men and women above 35 years of age should get their health checked regularly so that any serious disease, especially cancer, can be detected in the early stages. There are four screening tests that can detect cancer in its early stages. When symptoms are negligible or not visible at all. In such a situation, let us know which 4 screening tests must be done after the age of 35 years.

1. Regular Cancer Screening Test – Regular checkups i.e. standard screening tests are considered the backbone of cancer prevention. These tests have been decided after many years of study and are recognized by experts all over the world. The first one is colonoscopy. Every person should get this test done after the age of 45 years. This test helps in detecting cancer of the large intestine. It detects not only cancer but also the initial growth before it becomes cancer. Generally it is advised to repeat it every 10 years. The second test is mammogram. Women above 40 years of age should get a mammogram done once every 1 to 2 years. This is an imaging test that can detect breast cancer at an early stage. Apart from this, the third one is Pap smear or HPV test. Women above 21 years of age should get this test done for cervical cancer. Pap smear shows whether any abnormal changes are taking place in the cells of the uterus. Along with this, PSA test comes in the standard screening test. This test can give early indications of prostate cancer.

2. Gallery Test — Today’s modern technology has made cancer screening even easier. The Gallery test is a blood test that can detect more than 50 types of cancer early in a single sample. It detects the presence of cancer by detecting changes in DNA in the blood, often before symptoms are visible. Although this test does not make a complete difference in itself, but if any indication is found then the doctor can get further investigation done. People who have a history of cancer in their family or who are above 35-40 years of age can get this test done every year.

3. Genetic Test – Many times cancer occurs not only due to lifestyle but also due to genetic reasons, that is, if someone in the family has cancer at a young age, then the risk of it may increase in other members too. In such a situation, genetic testing proves to be very useful. This test identifies gene mutations such as BRCA1, BRCA2, CHEK2 or Lynch Syndrome, which can make a person susceptible to cancer. If changes in these genes are found, doctors can do early monitoring, do timely scanning and make prevention.

4. Whole body MRI – Full body MRI is a modern scan which gives an opportunity to look inside the body without radiation. It can detect hidden abnormalities or early tumors in many organs, even when symptoms are not visible. If it is done in combination with gallery test or genetic testing, it proves to be even more effective. However, doctors say that not every small abnormality is a matter of concern, so it is important to look at the MRI results with wisdom and expert advice.

Cancer cases of cancer have increased rapidly in the last few years, India is also in its grip. Everyone from women to men is easily hunting for it. At the same time, a study has been released by the National Cancer Registry Program, whose figures are quite surprising. According to this study, about 11 percent of the people of the country can get cancer. The most concern in this is about the North-East. Cancer cases can be seen the most in Mizoram here. In Mizoram alone, the figure of men getting cancer is 21.1 percent, while this figure is around 18.9 percent in women. Let us tell you what has been revealed in research?

This place is the highest and low threat here

In this entire research study, the data of the last five years has been investigated through 43 population based cancer registry. It includes 7,08,223 cancer patients and 2,06,457 deaths due to cancer. If we talk about the most cancer affected areas in this, then it is Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram. The possibility of people who are in the grip of cancer here is about 256 in 1 lakh men. At the same time, this figure in women is around 217 in 1 lakh.

If we talk about the lowest cancer area, then the name of Maharashtra is included in it. There is a possibility of threat of lowest cancer in Usmanabad and Beed here. In this way, if it is understood in simple words, then 6 districts of North East are at the top and after that its rates are the highest in Kashmir Valley and Kerala. Talking about metros like Hyderabad, the condition of cancer here is that there were 154 cancer patients in every one lakh women.

What is the condition of Delhi?

If we talk about Delhi, the capital of the country, then the cancer situation here is very concerned. Here, 147 people out of every one lakh population of men are likely to be hit by average of 146.7. If we talk about the condition of cancer in women inside Delhi, then it has not been mentioned in the report. The situation in Delhi is also worrying because the cancer situation here is higher than the national average.

Why are cancer cases growing?

According to Dr. Vijay Anand Reddy, an oncologist at Apollo Hospital, there are many reasons behind the increase of cancer. Let us tell about them.

Changing lifestyle (eg smoking, alcohol, junk food)

Pollution and adulterated catering

Lack of physical activity

To check people late and ignore the disease

Family History and Genetic Factor

How to reduce the risk of cancer?

Get regular health checkup

Get a full body checkup and cancer screening done at least once a year.

Close smoking and tobacco completely

Tobacco is the highest risk of getting mouth, lungs and throat cancer.

Take a healthy diet

Food rich in green vegetables, fruits, whole grains and fiber helps prevent cancer.

Increase physical activity

Exercise at least 30 minutes daily. This keeps hormone balance and immunity strong.

Keep distance from alcohol

Consumption of alcohol is associated with liver, breast and many other cancers.

Take vitamin d and sunlight

Taking the right amount of sunlight increases the immunity of the body.

Get vaccination done

Take timely vaccine to avoid viruses like HPV and Hepatitis B. These can become the cause of some cancer.

Take care of family history

If someone in the family has cancer, then take advice from the doctor and start a quick investigation. Experts believe that if people get regular health checkups and adopt healthy lifestyle, then the risk of cancer can be reduced to a great extent.

Also read: While doing exercise, you will not be bore now, if you have made peak and rule, you will enjoy a lot

Cancer is one of the most danger diseases in the world today. It gradually grows into the body and often does not understand a clear problem on the starting stage. This is the reason that most people do not reach the doctor until the disease reaches the serious stage. But if the test is done at the right time, then the cancer can be controlled in the starting stage itself. The question is, from which age can the risk of cancer starts increasing and when is it necessary to conduct a test?

Which age increases risk?

According to doctors, the risk of cancer increases with the age.

Up to 30 years: Cancer occurs only in rare case. But if there is a family history, then the risk is more.

After 40 years: At this age, the risk of breast cancer, cervical cancer, colon cancer and prostate cancer starts increasing.

Over 50 years: Most cases are reported in this age group. There are more chances of lung, liver, colon and blood cancer.

Why is the test necessary on time?

The biggest problem of cancer is that it gradually spreads in the body and does not get caught till late stage.

If diagnosed on the early stage, then the treatment becomes successful in 70–80 percent of the case.

On detecting late, the treatment becomes both tuff and costally.

Regular screening causes the disease to be caught and life can be saved.

Which tests should be conducted?

Breast cancer: Women should do mammography every 1–2 years after the age of 40.

Cervical cancer: Women above 30 mother -in -law should conduct a pap smear test every 3 years.

Colon Cancer: After 45, both main and women are required to colonoscopy.

Prostate Cancer: Main should have a PSA blood test after 50.

Lung Cancer: Smoking should be scanned after 40–45.

Easy Tips for Rescue

Stay away from smoking and alcohol.

Take healthy diet – Include green vegetables, fruits and holes.

Do daily exercise and yoga.

Keep the weight control and take a proper sleep.

Do regular health checkups every year.

What do doctors say?

Dr. Naveen Kumar, an oncologist of AIIMS Jhajjar, says that cancer can be in any age, but after 40, the risk increases. For this reason, every person should continue to conduct the necessary screening tests after 40–45. This Danger disease from early detect and healthy lifestyle is possible. If the problem is caught at the right time, then the treatment is easy and less expensive.

The third major cause of cancer deaths worldwide is stomach cancer. In 2020, more than 1.089 million new stomach cancer cases were reported worldwide and 769,000 people died. At the same time, stomach cancer is also becoming a major health problem in India. In 2025, its cases are continuously increasing. Every year more than 60,000 new cases are coming up in the country.

Stomach cancer often shows no specific symptoms in the initial stage, causing it to be detected late. However, some risk factors such as H. Pylori infection, excessive intake of salty or processed food, smoking and alcohol increase its risk.

Let us tell you that the rates of stomach cancer are very different all over the world and in some countries they are very high. This is a serious health problem, behind which many reasons are responsible. According to the data of 2022, the country with the highest rates of stomach cancer and the main reasons behind them are as follows.

The main reason for the high rate of stomach cancer in Mongolia is the eating of salty and smoked of the people here. Apart from this, the infection of Helicobacter Pylori bacteria is also quite spread in the population, which is a major cause of stomach cancer. The access and quality of health services is not as good, which often leads to late detection of the disease.

In Japan too, the rates of stomach cancer are very high, due to which there is a lot of consumption of namkeen, pickle and smoked foods that have been from old times. H. Pylori infection is still a big factor. The population of Japan is constantly getting old and this cancer is often seen more in the elderly. However, there are also excellent screening programs in Japan, due to which more cases are caught.

In South Korea too, stomach cancer cases are very high. National cancer screening programs are active here, which help in detecting more cases. Traditional Korean Foods, which contains salty and firm, have a reason for this. H. Pylori infection rate is also very high here.

Salty and smoked foods are consumed in Iran, while fresh vegetables and fruits are less eaten, which increase the risk of cancer. H. Pylori infection is also widely spread here. In some areas, the reasons related to the environment may also be responsible for high rates.

There are also many cases of stomach cancer in Tajikistan. People here also consume more salty and processed foods. H. Pylori infection rate is high. Also, due to lack of healthcare access and lack of awareness, the disease is detected late, which makes the situation more serious.

These are the main causes of stomach cancer

There are many factors of stomach cancer, which increase the risk of this. The biggest risk is Helicobacter Pylori infection, which produces chronic inflammation in the stomach. Your dide is also important; Very highly salty, and smoked food, as well as the lack of fresh vegetables and fruits increases the risk. Lifestyle habits like smoking and alcohol also contribute to it. At the same time, Genetics and Family History also matters. Poor hygiene and water quality can promote the spread of H. Pylori.
