Ex Agniveer Reservation: The Central Government has taken a big decision for the firefighters who have completed their service under the Agneepath Scheme. The Home Ministry has announced that now ex-Agniveers will get 50 percent reservation in recruitment to the posts of constables and rifle men in the Central Armed Police Force and Assam Rifles. Along with this, they will also be given many important concessions in the recruitment process. Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai gave this information through a written reply in the Lok Sabha. The government says that with the aim of simplifying the recruitment process for fire warriors, a new category named X Agniveer has been created. Under this, special concessions will be given in reservation, age relaxation and recruitment process.

On which posts will 50 percent reservation be given?

According to the Home Ministry, this reservation will be applicable during recruitment to the posts of constable in CAPF and rifleman in Assam Rifles. In every recruitment year, 50 percent vacancies of these posts will be reserved for ex-firefighters. Earlier in March 2023, the government had made a provision of 10 percent reservation for former firefighters. Now it has been increased to 50 percent. Many central and security forces like BSF and CISF had also earlier implemented the proposal to increase reservation by amending their recruitment rules.

What relaxation will be given in the recruitment process?

The Home Ministry has decided to give many important relaxations in the recruitment process to ex-firefighters. Under this, candidates will be given exemption from written examination, exemption from physical standard test and exemption from physical efficiency test. The government believes that during the 4 years of military service, fire fighters have received the necessary physical and professional training, hence they are being given relaxation in these stages.

Relief will be available in age limit also

The government has also decided to give relaxation in the upper age limit for ex-firefighters. All eligible Ex-Agniveers will get relaxation of 3 years in the upper age limit. Candidates of the first batch of Agneepath Scheme will also be given additional age relaxation of 5 years. While the Home Ministry has announced exemption from written examination and physical test in the recruitment process, no separate instructions have been issued yet regarding how the merit will be prepared. The government has said that detailed information in this regard will be released later.

When will the first batch become eligible?

The first batch recruited under the Agneepath scheme has not yet completed its 4 years of service. About 2,600 Agniveer of the first batch, who joined the Navy in November 2022, will complete their service this year. After this they will be eligible to apply under the new system in CAPF and Assam Rifles.
