CAT 2026 Exam : An important update has come out for the students dreaming of doing MBA in the top management institutes of the country. Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have released the notification of Common Admission Test (CAT) 2026. Along with this, the complete schedule from application to admit card, examination and result has also been announced, the candidates who want to appear in this examination will be able to apply online as per the scheduled dates. This examination is the main means of admission in many prestigious business schools including 21 IIMs of the country.

When will the registrations for CAT 2026 start?

The online registration process for CAT 2026 will start on August 3, 2026 at 10 am. Interested candidates will be able to submit their applications online till 5 pm on 15 September 2026. Notification related to the examination has been made available on the official website.

In which institutions will you get the chance for admission?

Through CAT 2026, candidates will get the opportunity to get admission in 21 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) of the country. Apart from this, admission is also given in major business schools like FMS Delhi, SPJIMR, MDI Gurugram, IITs and IIFT on the basis of the score of this examination.

Complete schedule of CAT 2026

The start date of registration is 3 August 2026. The last date of application is 15 September 2026 and the date of release of admit card is 4 November 2026. Apart from this, the date of examination is 29 November 2026. CAT 2026 will be conducted on 29 November 2026 in approximately 170 examination cities of the country. The examination will be conducted in three different sessions.

When will the result come and how long will the score remain valid?

The result of CAT 2026 may be released in the first week of January 2027. The score of the exam will remain valid till 31 December 2027.

Who can apply?

Candidates applying for CAT 2026 must have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or institute. For general category candidates, there should be at least 50 percent marks or CGPA. A minimum of 45 percent marks or CGPA has been fixed for SC, ST and PwBD category candidates. Students studying in the last year of graduation and whose results are yet to be declared can also apply as per the prescribed conditions. Candidates who have completed or are in the final year of professional qualification like CA, CS, ICWA (CMA) or FIAI can also apply for CAT 2026 if they fulfill the eligibility conditions.

How much is the registration fee?

For CAT 2026, general category candidates will have to pay Rs 2,700 registration fee. Whereas for SC, ST and PwD category candidates the application fee has been fixed at Rs 1,350.
