Keeping in mind the security and uncertainty of the situation, the board has for the time being canceled the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations to be held on March 2, 2026. The board has clearly stated that due to the current circumstances in some parts of the Middle East, this decision has been taken giving priority to the safety of the students.

In which countries the exam has been cancelled?

This decision will be applicable to all those CBSE schools. Which are located in countries like Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. All the board examinations of class 10 and 12 to be held on March 2, 2026 will not be held in these countries.

CBSE has said that new dates for the postponed examinations will be announced later. Currently, students have been advised not to believe any rumor or fake news spreading on social media. Students and parents have been asked to keep in touch with their respective schools and rely only on the information provided by the CBSE official website or school administration.

The board has also said that the situation will be reviewed again on March 3, 2026. After this, the final decision will be taken regarding the examinations starting from March 5. This simply means that if the tension in the area is not reduced, then the dates of further examinations can also be changed, that is, there is a possibility of further amendments in the examination schedule.

Information also given to Indian embassies

This notification issued by CBSE has also been sent to the Indian diplomatic missions located in the respective countries. These include Indian embassies in Abu Dhabi (UAE), Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Muscat (Oman), Doha (Qatar), Manama (Bahrain), Kuwait City and Tehran (Iran), as well as the Consulate General of India in Dubai and the CBSE regional office there. This notice claimed that some board examinations of class 10 and 12 have been canceled in the Middle East region amid the Iran-Israel war. This news disturbed thousands of Indian students and their parents studying there, but now the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made it clear that this news is completely fake and no such decision has been taken.

What was the claim in the fake notice?

The title of this alleged notice being shared on social media was Notice for Affiliated Schools (Middle East Region). It was said that all the remaining language subjects papers of classes 10 and 12 to be held after 28 February 2026 have been canceled in the Middle East region. Class 10 Social Science exam to be held on March 7, 2026 will also not be conducted at the examination centers in the Middle East. Whereas for the affected subjects, marks will be given to the students on the basis of internal assessment, pre-board examination and continuous assessment. No student will be failed in these subjects. The name of the controller of examinations was also written on the notice and its format looked like the official CBSE circular, due to which people believed it to be true and further increased the confusion.

What did CBSE say?

CBSE immediately termed this viral notice as fake. The board posted on its official social media platform X and clearly said that important warning, this is a fake notice. An official update will be released soon. After this clarification it became clear that the board exams in the Middle East have not been canceled and the exams are being conducted as per the schedule.

Why did panic spread among students?

Board exams are already a cause of stress for students. At a time when the examination is going on and suddenly the news of its cancellation comes out, then the preparation and mental state of the students gets affected. Many students and parents living in the Middle East accepted this news as truth and were confused as to what would happen next. Questions were being raised regarding this notice in some schools also. However, after the official statement of CBSE, the situation became clear and the rumors came to an end.

CBSE examinations are also conducted in foreign countries

Every year CBSE conducts board examinations at more than 7,800 examination centers across the world for approximately 42 lakh students. About 26 foreign countries are included in these. A large number of Indian students study in CBSE schools in Middle East countries like UAE, Qatar and Oman. There are about 15 CBSE recognized examination centers operating in UAE alone, where local and regional students take the examination.
