CBSE has decided to make a big change in the 10th class board examination system, which will now give students an additional opportunity to improve studies and get better marks. Under this new arrangement starting from 2026, there will be tenth board examinations twice a year.

Board exam twice a year

The first exam will be held every year in mid -February, which will be mandatory for all students. Students who pass this exam, if they want, can improve their marks in the second examination to be held in May. In this second exam, they can sit in maximum three subjects of subjects like science, mathematics, social science and language.

Who will not get a chance?

If a student fails in three or more subjects in the first examination, then he will not get a chance to sit in the second exam. Such students will be put in the “necessary recurrence” category, that is, they will have to take the exam again next year. However, the students whose result falls in the “compartment” category can give the paper for the second time under the compartment examination.

Special provisions will also be applicable

CBSE has also ensured that students participating in sports, students studying in winter and children with special needs also get equal opportunities and flexibility. For this, there will be internal assessment once before the main examination. The special thing is that the syllabus of both the first and second examinations will be based on the course of the whole year, so that students do not face any kind of inequality.

Forward procedure

The results of the first examination will be announced in April, while the result of the second examination will come in June. Students can take temporary admission in 11th grade based on the marks of their first exam, but the final admission will be confirmed only after the results of the second examination. Apart from this, the qualification certificate will also be given only after the second examination.

Why changed?

CBSE believes that this “two-examination system” will give students more flexibility, maintain the continuity of learning and reduce the stress caused by the same big examination at the end of the year. This change is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) guidelines and will help in the overall development of students

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to make many major changes from the 2026 board examinations, which will change both the methods of education and preparation for the examination in the coming time. Now APAAR ID will be necessary for every student.

CBSE has made it clear that every student appearing in the 2026 board examinations should have APAAR ID. This is a unique digital ID in which all the academic records of the student- such as marksheets, certificates and other documents will be saved. This ID will be valid for a lifetime and this will eliminate the problem of fraud or duplicate records.

Now schools will have to create APAAR ID of all students from 9th to 12th standard so that all the formalities can be completed before the examination. If you are in class 9th or above, then get your ID constructed as soon as possible.

Increase in examination and registration fees

CBSE has increased fees by about 6.66% from 2025-26 session. The board says that there was no change in the fees from 2020, but in the meantime the expenditure on examination, staff and other arrangements has increased manifold.

A subject fee for class 10 and 12 in India will be Rs 320, Rs 1600 for five subjects. Practical fees for 12th will be Rs 160 and registration fee for class 9 and 11 will be Rs 320. In Nepal, a subject fee will be Rs 1100, Rs 5500 for five subjects, practical Rs 175 and registration fee of Rs 550 or Rs 660.

Also read- Sam Manekshaw, Brigadier Mohammad Usman and Major Somnath Sharma will read the stories of students, big changes in NCERT’s syllabus

Whereas in other countries, a subject fee will be Rs 2200, Rs 11,000 for five subjects, practical Rs 375 and registration fee of Rs 550 or 660. Earlier, the board used to get income from the migration certificate, but now it is not necessary, so the fee has become a source of main income.

Changes have an impact on students

After these changes, there will be both new opportunities and challenges in front of the students. Your educational record will always be saved from APAAR ID. The increase in fees means that families will have to plan the budget budget in advance. AI Center will open a new door of technical education, especially for those who want to learn new things.

ALSO READ- MCC again extended date for NEET counseling, now these days will be released on the seat allotment of round-1

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken a big initiative to change the way of studying for students. The board has approved the implementation of Open Book Assessment (OBA) in class 9 under the National Curriculum Framework (NCFSE 2023). This change will start from academic session 2026-27. Under this scheme, there will be a pen-paper examination thrice a year, which will include the main subjects like language, mathematics, science and social science.

Why is the open book assessment important?

The aim of NCFSE 2023 is to bring students out of the habit of rote, to think and understand and go into the depth of the subject. In the traditional examination, where children read and remember and write the same, they will get a chance to solve the question with the book in OBA. But this does not mean that the examination will be easier, but to answer here, the ability of understanding and analysis will be more important.

What was revealed in the pilot project?

Earlier a pilot was studied, in which the students’ performance was closely analyzed. It focused on cross-cutting topics i.e. such subjects which are related to different subjects. Avoiding the material of additional studies, the students were tested on the basis of their syllabus. During this time, the scores of the students were between 12% to 47%.
According to the report, OBA saw improvement in students’ thinking and ability to solve questions.

What do teachers say?

During the study, teachers were also consulted. Most teachers appeared in favor of this new way. He says that OBA will take students to understand the subject instead of remembering only. However, some teachers also admitted that initially some students may find it difficult to adjust to this pattern.
Clean and balanced question papers will be prepared for OBA, so that the level of examination is the same for all students.

ALSO READ- MCC again extended date for NEET counseling, now these days will be released on the seat allotment of round-1

What will be the benefit of students?

Fear of examination will be reduced – The pressure on the students to remember immediately will be reduced due to the opening of the book.

The ability to think will increase – children will not only remember the answer, but will solve it.

You will learn use in real life – whatever you have read, you will get a chance to apply in real situations.

The habit of rote will decrease – deep understanding of the subject will develop, which will be useful for a long time.

Also read- Sam Manekshaw, Brigadier Mohammad Usman and Major Somnath Sharma will read the stories of students, big changes in NCERT’s syllabus

The Central Board of Secondary Education i.e. CBSE has tightened the grip on the major disturbances across the country. In 7 states and union territories like Delhi, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal, 15 schools were suddenly raided. In this action, ‘dummy students’ were found in many schools. Actually, these were students whose names are written in school, but they never attend class. These students were given admission in the school only to take the board examination, which is clearly a violation of the rules. Let’s know what is the whole matter?

What is the game of ‘Dummy Student’?

In its investigation, CBSE saw in many schools that the number of students in the 11th and 12th grade is far more than the 9th and 10th. It was suspected that there is some wrongdoing in schools. Investigation revealed that some schools have written the names of the students in a fake way. These students do not study in school nor do they go to class. Their purpose is only to pass the board examination. Many times the schools do this with coaching centers, so that students can focus on coaching and maintain a false record of school presence. This is not only harmful for education, but also playing with the future of students.

How did the action take?

CBSE detected this disturbance by resorting to technology. Data Analysis showed that the nomination figures in which schools are incorrect. After this, 15 teams suddenly raided all schools together. Each team consisted of an officer of CBSE and a school principal. It was ensured that no school was already aware so that the truth could be revealed.

What was found in the investigation?

More enrollment: The number of students in the 11th and 12th was more than the rules, which is against the rules.

Lack of studies and facilities: Many schools did not have the right classroom, teacher and study atmosphere.

Fake students: In many places, such students were found, whose name was in the register, but they never came to school.

Record disturbances: A big difference was found in the records and reality of schools.

Where and where the investigation took place?

Sri Guru Harkrishna Public School, Chandigarh

Apex Public School, Burari, Delhi

Strict attitude of CBSE

CBSE has made it clear that strict action will be taken if the disturbances are found after the report. The board says that children should get good and honest education. If a school breaks or frauds, he will not be spared.

A big news has come out for the students preparing for admission in IIT, NIT and other top engineering colleges. Many state boards including CBSE have released the top-20 percentile points. This Persenty List is very important for students who want to get admission in institutions like IIIT, NIT and GFTI through JEE Main.

Top -20 percentile means – the minimum score of students scoring the top 20% of a board. That is, if a student brings above this score in the board examination, then it will be considered eligible for admission in NIT or other institutions through JEE. Suppose the cutoff of the top-20 percentile in a board is 436, then the student of that board will have to score at least 436 marks, only then he will be eligible to admission in institutions like NIT, IIIT.

Which state board cutoff is the most?
The Andhra Pradesh Board is at the forefront this year. Here in 2025, the top-20 percentile score is 475 points, which shows an increase of 28 points over the previous year.

How will you benefit from Top-20 Persenty?

NTA means National Testing Agency conducts JEE Main exam every year. In this, the students who qualify, have to complete the top-20 percent score of the board for admission in NIT and IIIT. If a student comes from the general category and has not secured 75% marks, he can complete the eligibility with the help of Top-20 percent.

Know the top-20 percent cut off of major boards

The score for 2025 in Andhra Pradesh was 475 and 2024 was 447. Telangana scored 436 in 2025 and 410 in 2024. The score of 2025 in Tamil Nadu was 419 and 422 last year. Karnataka’s score was 424 in both years, while in Rajasthan scored 436 in 2025 and 434 in 2024. It is clear from these data that the top-20 percent score of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rajasthan Board is much higher than other states.

Advice for students

Students who want to enroll in NIT or IIIT through JEE Main this year, they must check the top-20 percent score of their board. If your digits are above this cutoff, then you can be ready for further process. Apart from this, students with lower marks than score can focus on improvement exam or better preparation for next time.

Since the year 2026, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is going to make a big change, which is going to provide relief to millions of students. The board will now conduct class 10th examinations twice a year. This change has been brought under the New Education Policy (NEP), which aims to reduce the pressure of examinations on the students and give them a second chance to perform better.

When and how will the exam twice?

CBSE has made it clear that the board examination of class 10th will now be taken in two phases. The first exam will be held in February and the second exam will be held in May. This will be exactly the same as some competitive exams are twice.

However, some rules have been set for both these examinations. It will be necessary to appear in the first phase examination, while the second examination will be optional. That is, if the student is not able to score good marks in the first phase, then he can sit again in the examination to be held in May.

How many subjects will you get a chance?

According to the new guideline of CBSE, you can get the option of re -examination in all the main subjects. It includes topics like Mathematics, Science, Social Science, English and Hindi. However, students will be able to take the exam again in the same subjects in which they want to improve.

This will provide the facility to the students to work hard on their weak subjects and get better marks. This facility will be beneficial for students who are unable to perform well in the first examination for some reason.

Internal assessment and board number

CBSE has also made it clear that internal assessment will be only once. This means that students will not have to give practical and internal assignments again. Only the opportunity to improve the theory paper of the board examination will be available.

Students will get a chance to improve

CBSE Controller of Examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj said that this decision has been taken for the convenience of the students. This will not only help the students to reduce stress, but will also give them a chance to improve their marks.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has once again given relief to students studying basic mathematics in 10th. For the academic session 2025-26, CBSE has made it clear that such students, who had chosen Mathematics Basic in 10th, can also take mathematics subjects in 11th. However, this discount will be given with certain conditions.

The schools have been instructed by CBSE to make a thorough investigation to the students who want to read mathematics in the 11th, they have the appropriate ability and ability to understand and take the subject. If the school feels that students will not understand the mathematics of that level, then they should not be allowed to choose this subject.

How long will this rule remain in force?

CBSE has also clarified that this exemption will continue until the National Curriculum Fraction (NCF-SE) is fully implemented under the new education policy (NEP). As soon as this new scheme is implemented, this old discount will automatically be considered over.

Once the subject was chosen, there will be no change again

CBSE has warned schools that if a subject is chosen while filling the List of Candidates for the 2025 board examination, no change will be made later. Schools have been asked to inform the students and parents about this in advance so that there is no problem in the future.

When was this discount started?

In view of the educational pressure of the students during the Kovid epidemic, CBSE relaxed this rule for the first time. Since then, this exemption is being given in the last three academic years. Earlier there was a rule that only those students who have read Standard Math in 10th, can take the subject of Mathematics (041) in 11th. Basic maths were allowed to read only applied mathematics.

What is the difference between standard and basic math?

CBSE had divided the mathematics subject into two levels from March 2020 – Mathematics and Mathematics (Basic). Standard Math was for students who want to study further with mathematics subject in 11th-12th or go to areas like engineering, science in future. At the same time, Basic Math was brought keeping in mind, who want to read mathematics only till 10th and want to avoid it further.

As soon as the school opens, the fees of the concern of the parents have become fees once again. As soon as the new session of studies starts, crores of parents across the country are struggling with the question that why the price of giving better education to children is becoming so heavy? Recently, this concern has come out in the survey conducted by local circles.

More than 31,000 parents from 309 districts of the country participated in this survey, out of which 38% were women. The figures are shocking, 44% of the parents said that their children’s school fees have increased from 50% to 80% in the last three years. In some cities, this increase is even more. According to reports, admission fees of primary schools in Hyderabad have doubled, while parents in Bengaluru are angry about 10% to 30% increase.
