CBSE 12th Exam Rechecking Controversy: This time, after the release of the 12th board result of the Central Board of Secondary Education, the anger of the students is visible across the country. Most questions are being raised on the board’s on-screen marking system. The situation has become such that almost every fourth student who appeared in the examination asked for a scanned copy of his answer sheet. This is being considered as the biggest rechecking crisis ever in the education world. According to the official data of CBSE, this year around 98.60 lakh copies of class 10th and 12th were digitally evaluated. A total of 17.68 lakh students appeared in the examination.

After the results were declared, as soon as the board opened the portal for marks verification and scan copy download, record applications started coming in within the first few hours. Within just 3 hours, more than 1.26 lakh students applied, due to which the board’s website came to a standstill. Till now, more than four lakh students have applied for scan copy and rechecking of 11.31 lakh answer sheets. This figure is approximately 23 percent of the total candidates, that is, directly the fourth student does not seem to be satisfied with his result.

Will CBSE 12th Exam be held again?

If compared with last year’s figures, the matter appears more serious. In the year 2025, about 1.31 lakh students had applied for rechecking and verification of 2.82 lakh copies. But this time the number of students has reached above 4 lakh, that is, a jump of about 238 percent has been recorded in one year. Because of this, a discussion has started on social media and in the education world whether the board may have to consider a big decision like re-doing the 12th exam. However, at present no such official announcement or indication has been given by the board.

Website crashes, students stay awake all night

The board’s portal has been under constant pressure in the last several days after the rechecking process started. Thousands of students complained that the error of Service Not Available is coming repeatedly on the website. Many students have to refresh 8 to 10 times to open a page. Many parents say that the portal works properly only for some time after 2 am, due to which students are forced to go overnight and apply. In many cases, money was deducted from the students’ accounts, but the applications were not submitted.

After all, what are the students demanding?

This time the students are fighting their battle mainly in three phases. The first phase is of marks verification, in which students are getting the totaling and data entry checked. In the second phase, students are asking for their scanned copies, so that they can see for themselves whether any questions have been left unchecked or marks have been deducted wrongly. In the third phase, students are demanding re-evaluation by challenging the evaluation of selected questions. After the growing controversy and technical glitches, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also took cognizance of the matter. The Education Minister has sought a detailed report from CBSE on the complaints of server crash, wrong scanned copy and blurred answer sheets. According to sources, the ministry has also asked to fix the accountability of the external IT agencies involved in this entire process.

CBSE Class 12 Result 2026: While the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had released the Class 10 results in early April, lakhs of students are still waiting for the Class 12 results. After the exam is over, the biggest question is when will the result come? Statistics from previous years show that this delay is not a new thing and the result usually comes as per CBSE’s scheduled time. Also, this time also the discussion regarding the result date is intense in different reports. There is a lot of curiosity among the students especially about the possibility of results coming between 10th to 15th May.

Why is May 10 to 15 being considered a possible date?

This year, class 12 examinations were held between February 17 and April 10. After the completion of the examination, the work of checking the copies was started in different phases. For this, CBSE’s digital marking system is being used, so that copies can be checked quickly and evaluation can be done equally in all subjects. According to reports, CBSE 12th result may be released between 10 to 15 May 2026. This estimate is being made by looking at the trend of previous years, because the board has often been releasing results around this time. In the years 2024 and 2025, the result was declared on 13 May, whereas in 2023 it was declared on 12 May. From this it can be understood that every year a fixed pattern has been formed for the results to be declared between 10th and 15th May. Although no official date has been announced by CBSE yet, this time is considered to be the most probable.

Possibility of third week is also being expressed

It has also been told in some official updates that the result can also be released in the third week of May. According to CBSE officials, the evaluation process is almost in the final stage and preparation for the result is going on. In such a situation, it is clear that the result is likely to be released by the middle or third week of May.

Also read: Going to appear for NEET UG exam? Bus travel will remain free, read complete guidelines

Where and how will students be able to see the results

After the release of the result, students will be able to check it by visiting the official website of CBSE, results.cbse.nic.in. For this they will have to enter their roll number, school number and admit card ID. Apart from this, students will also be able to download their digital marksheet through DigiLocker and UMANG app. This digital marksheet is temporary, whereas the original marksheet is received from the school later.
