If you are teaching your children in CBSE School, now you can get some relief about their safety. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken strict steps to further strengthen the safety of students in schools. Now all CBSE affiliated schools have been made mandatory to install high-resolution CCTV cameras in their entire campus.

CBSE has amended its rules on Monday, saying that every school will have to make such monitoring arrangements so that every step of children can be recorded. The cameras will not only record video but also with audio. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the increasing incidents in schools and safety of students.

In which places will the cameras be installed?

According to the new guidelines of the board, high-quality cameras will have to be installed in all important places such as the school’s main gate, classroom, staff room, lab, library, canteen, corridors, stairs, playgrounds, and outside the toilet. The special thing is that these cameras will be able to record both audio and videos. However, cameras will not be installed inside the toilet and washroom.

There should be at least 15 days recording

CBSE has also said that cameras should be connected to such storage devices in which recording of at least 15 days can be preserved. The purpose of this is that if any kind of incident happens, then the truth can be revealed with the help of footage. All schools have to ensure that the recording backup is kept safe and if needed, it can be made available to the concerned authority.

Schools will have to provide proof

CBSE has also asked all schools that they give evidence that they have followed the new instructions of the board. If a school does not follow these rules, then action can be taken against it. Schools will have to send the report of monitoring system to the board from time to time.

Why was this decision taken?

In the last few years, security related incidents have come to light in school premises. Parents and society have been continuously questioning the monitoring system of schools. This step of CBSE is considered to be a big and necessary step towards giving children a safe environment.

Now that the camera will be monitored at every step of children, then the atmosphere of the school is expected to become even more safe. It is also expected that this will also increase transparency and accountability in the school administration.
