CBSE has made a big change for the 10th board exam of 2026. The board has clearly said that now in the science and social science paper, every answer will have to be written in the same section which is prescribed for that subject, if any student writes the answer in the wrong section, then he will not be examined and he will not get any marks. CBSE says that this will make it easier to check the copy and the answers of the children will also be visible clearly and in the correct order.

CBSE made major changes in the rules of 10th board

Under the new rules, the science question paper has been divided into three sections. Section A is for Biology, Section B is for Chemistry and Section C is for Physics. Students will have to write the answer to each question in the same section. Similarly, social science is divided into four parts. History, Geography, Political Science and Economics. If students write the answer to any subject in the wrong part, it will be directly considered wrong.

The board also clarified regarding re-valuation

The board has also clearly stated that such mistakes cannot be corrected later even in re-checking or re-valuation of the copy. That means if the answer is written in the wrong place, students will not be able to do anything. Therefore, children will have to practice this new format from now on. For this reason, CBSE has asked schools to make students used to the new pattern through pre-boards as well as regular practice.

CBSE says that with this change, children will have more discipline in writing their answers, mistakes will be reduced and all the copies will be checked in the same manner. The aim of the board is that children write their papers clearly and correctly in the examination without any confusion. Overall, the new rule is simple that the answer has to be written in the section to which it belongs, otherwise the marks will be deducted directly.

Why is the calculator discount?

CBSE says that many times in the account paper paper has to be done very long and difficult calculations, which increases the extra pressure on the students. Therefore, the board is now thinking that ordinary calculator should be allowed so that students can write quickly and correct answers and their confidence will also remain.

What are the rules right now?

Till now CBSE allows disabled students to use calculator in the exam. But CISCE (ICSE Board) had allowed all the students of class 12 to use simple calculator in 2021. Now CBSE is also making up its mind to follow this path.

How will the calculator be?

A committee of the board will prepare a guideline on which calculator can be used. Only basic calculator will be allowed, so that you can extract joint, subtraction, multiplication, part and percentage. But you will not be able to use scientific or advance calculator.

What will be the change in the examination system?

CBSE is preparing to bring a new digital marking system not only a calculator. In this, the answer sheet will be scanned and uploaded online, so that examiners will be able to check it in digital form. With this, paper checking will be done in more fast and correct way. In 2024-25 it can be applied as a trial in some subjects.

If CBSE implements this rule, then students of accounts will get great relief. This will save their time in the exam and also reduce mistakes. At the same time, the results from the new digital marking system will come with quick and more transparency. This step of CBSE can prove to be a good change for students.
