Important news has come out for lakhs of students across the country. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a big update regarding the class 10th and 12th board examinations to be held in the year 2026. The board has changed the dates of examinations of some subjects proposed to be held on March 3, 2026. In this regard, CBSE has issued a notification on its official website cbse.gov.in and informed the students and parents.

According to CBSE, due to administrative reasons, the dates of the examinations which were earlier to be held on March 3, 2026, have been revised. Class 10th examination will now be conducted on 11 March 2026. The new date of 12th exam has been fixed as 10th April 2026.

The board has also clarified that apart from these subjects, all other examinations will be conducted as per the already decided schedule.

Information reached to students and parents

CBSE has appealed to all the affiliated schools to convey the information about this change to the students and their parents in time. The board has assured that the revised datesheet will be released soon, which will contain complete details of the new exam dates. Not only this, the changed dates will also be updated in the admit cards of the students.

Board exams will be held in a single shift

According to the final plan of the board, the board examinations of class 10th and 12th will be held in a single shift. The examination of most subjects will be held from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.

At the same time, there has been a partial change in the examination time of some selected subjects, whose examination will be conducted from 10:30 am to 12:30 noon.

When will the exams be held?

CBSE has made it clear that the examinations of all other subjects will be held as per the already decided schedule. The dates of only these few subjects have been changed. CBSE’s 10th and 12th board exams will be held from February to April. Some papers of 10th will now be held on 11th March and 12th Legal Studies exam will be held on 10th April. The remaining examinations will be held as per the fixed schedule. Admit cards can be downloaded from CBSE website by entering roll number etc.

Taking a big decision in accordance with the new education policy, CBSE has made skill education mandatory for all students from class 6 to 8. Now learning in schools will not be limited to just books and examinations, but children will also learn real-life activities like caring for plants, understanding machines and service work. The objective of which is ‘learning by doing’, not just ‘memorizing by reading’.

CBSE has directed all affiliated schools to implement skill-based education as a core subject and not as an optional subject. Under the National Education Policy-2020, new books of NCERT’s “Kaushal Bodh Series” will be adopted in every school from this session (2025–26). These books will be available in both digital and print forms.

Skills will be divided into three categories – work related to living beings, machines and services.

According to the new framework, students will be engaged with three types of skill tasks. These include work with living beings, such as caring for plants and pets, work with machines and materials, such as a basic understanding of tools, equipment, and technology, and human services, such as social support and service.

Three projects will have to be done every year, total target of 270 hours of actual work

Students will have to complete nine projects in three years from sixth to eighth. Every year, children will do practical work for about 90 hours i.e. a total of 270 hours in three projects. The aim is that they move forward not just on the basis of ‘what they read’, but on the basis of ‘what they did’ and ‘how they learned’.

The routine of schools will also change, the periods of skill education will be fixed in the time table.

• Schools will have to make major changes in their timetable.
• Every year 110 hours (about 160 periods) will be earmarked only for skill education.
• Two consecutive periods will be kept for this subject two days a week.
• Out of the six projects present in the book, schools will be able to choose three projects according to local needs and resources.

New system will be implemented from next session

CBSE has clarified that this new framework of skill education will be implemented compulsorily from this session itself. Schools will have to ensure necessary resources, trained teachers and project based system. To make skill education successful, CBSE, NCERT and PSSIVE will jointly run a comprehensive teacher training campaign. After the training, teachers will adopt the new method of project based study, activity creation and evaluation.

Annual skill fair will also be organized

“Skill Fair” will be organized in schools at the end of every academic year, where students will showcase their projects, models and experiences. This will also help parents understand what children are learning outside of books. The assessment process of skill education will also change. There will be 10% marks in written examination. 20 marks will be added for 30% oral examination, 30% activity book, 10% portfolio and 20% teacher evaluation.

CTET Notification Soon: There is good news for the candidates preparing for CTET. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) may soon release CTET notification for December 2025 session. Through this notification, the path to becoming a teacher will be easy, especially for those candidates who want to teach classes 1 to 8 in Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Vidyalaya and other government schools. After the release of the notification, the application process will start on the official website of CBSE, ctet.nic.in.

CTET December 2025 exam will be conducted in offline mode i.e. pen and paper-based mode. This examination is an important qualifying step for the candidates. Candidates who pass the examination can apply for teacher posts in central government schools.

According to various media reports, the CTET December 2025 notification is likely to be released in the last week of October or early November. However, no official announcement has been made by CBSE yet. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) are asked in CTET exam. In this, the studies, principles of education and subject expertise of the candidates are tested.

Paper I – This exam is for those candidates who want to teach classes 1 to 5. For this, the candidate must have a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd).

Paper II – This exam is for those candidates who want to teach classes 6 to 8. For this, the candidate must have B.Ed degree along with Bachelor degree.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a big warning to students and parents. The board has clearly stated that recently some unauthorized and fake platforms are misleading students and parents. These platforms are spreading false information related to fake marksheets, fake certificates and record reforms. Relying on such platforms not only play with the future of students, but it can also cause economic losses and legal problems.

CBSE has insisted that every official information related to the board is available only through the official website of CBSE and regional offices. Whether it is to issue duplicate documents, improvement in certificate or marksheet, or all processes of students and any examination related to the examination are completed only through official channels.

Therefore, students and parents should not trust any unknown website, agency or social media page. Fake websites and individuals coming under the guise can not only cause loss of money, but sometimes legal difficulties also arise.

CBSE has decided to make a big change in the 10th class board examination system, which will now give students an additional opportunity to improve studies and get better marks. Under this new arrangement starting from 2026, there will be tenth board examinations twice a year.

Board exam twice a year

The first exam will be held every year in mid -February, which will be mandatory for all students. Students who pass this exam, if they want, can improve their marks in the second examination to be held in May. In this second exam, they can sit in maximum three subjects of subjects like science, mathematics, social science and language.

Who will not get a chance?

If a student fails in three or more subjects in the first examination, then he will not get a chance to sit in the second exam. Such students will be put in the “necessary recurrence” category, that is, they will have to take the exam again next year. However, the students whose result falls in the “compartment” category can give the paper for the second time under the compartment examination.

Special provisions will also be applicable

CBSE has also ensured that students participating in sports, students studying in winter and children with special needs also get equal opportunities and flexibility. For this, there will be internal assessment once before the main examination. The special thing is that the syllabus of both the first and second examinations will be based on the course of the whole year, so that students do not face any kind of inequality.

Forward procedure

The results of the first examination will be announced in April, while the result of the second examination will come in June. Students can take temporary admission in 11th grade based on the marks of their first exam, but the final admission will be confirmed only after the results of the second examination. Apart from this, the qualification certificate will also be given only after the second examination.

CBSE believes that this “two-examination system” will give students more flexibility, maintain the continuity of learning and reduce the stress caused by the same big examination at the end of the year. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to make major changes in the syllabus of legal studies from the 2026-27 season. Now students will study India’s new criminal laws, important decisions and modern legal principles instead of the old laws of colonial era. This change will not only give students a better understanding of the law but will also connect them with the justice system of changing times.

Old laws will be history

The CBSE course committee had already approved this proposal, which was also approved by the Governing Body in June. Under the changes, new legal framework will be included by removing the old provisions like Triple Divorce Act and treason under the changes. Study of new laws

There were historic changes in India’s criminal justice system in 2023-24, when new laws were implemented in place of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Criminal Procedure Code (CRPC) and Indian Evidence Act-

• Indian evidence act (bsa)

Now these new laws will be taught in the 11th and 12th legal studies.

Travel of legal studies

CBSE started Legal Studies in 2013 in 11th grade and 12th grade in 2014. Since then, there have been many major changes in the legal structure of the country. It was a demand of time to include these changes in the syllabus.

New books and modern studies

According to CBSE officials, an expert committee will be formed for these changes, which will help in preparing the content. Also, a content development agency can also be added so that new books are ready on time. These books will be in line with the new National Education Policy (NEP) and with modern teaching practices, so that students can get a deep understanding in the subject.

Subject will reach more schools

In April 2024, the Directorate of Education approved the start of Legal Studies in 29 more schools. Principals were instructed to complete all the formalities sought by CBSE soon, so that the subject could be taught smoothly in the new session.

Why is the calculator discount?

CBSE says that many times in the account paper paper has to be done very long and difficult calculations, which increases the extra pressure on the students. Therefore, the board is now thinking that ordinary calculator should be allowed so that students can write quickly and correct answers and their confidence will also remain.

What are the rules right now?

Till now CBSE allows disabled students to use calculator in the exam. But CISCE (ICSE Board) had allowed all the students of class 12 to use simple calculator in 2021. Now CBSE is also making up its mind to follow this path.

How will the calculator be?

A committee of the board will prepare a guideline on which calculator can be used. Only basic calculator will be allowed, so that you can extract joint, subtraction, multiplication, part and percentage. But you will not be able to use scientific or advance calculator.

What will be the change in the examination system?

CBSE is preparing to bring a new digital marking system not only a calculator. In this, the answer sheet will be scanned and uploaded online, so that examiners will be able to check it in digital form. With this, paper checking will be done in more fast and correct way. In 2024-25 it can be applied as a trial in some subjects.
