CBSE 12th Exam Rechecking Controversy: This time, after the release of the 12th board result of the Central Board of Secondary Education, the anger of the students is visible across the country. Most questions are being raised on the board’s on-screen marking system. The situation has become such that almost every fourth student who appeared in the examination asked for a scanned copy of his answer sheet. This is being considered as the biggest rechecking crisis ever in the education world. According to the official data of CBSE, this year around 98.60 lakh copies of class 10th and 12th were digitally evaluated. A total of 17.68 lakh students appeared in the examination.

After the results were declared, as soon as the board opened the portal for marks verification and scan copy download, record applications started coming in within the first few hours. Within just 3 hours, more than 1.26 lakh students applied, due to which the board’s website came to a standstill. Till now, more than four lakh students have applied for scan copy and rechecking of 11.31 lakh answer sheets. This figure is approximately 23 percent of the total candidates, that is, directly the fourth student does not seem to be satisfied with his result.

Will CBSE 12th Exam be held again?

If compared with last year’s figures, the matter appears more serious. In the year 2025, about 1.31 lakh students had applied for rechecking and verification of 2.82 lakh copies. But this time the number of students has reached above 4 lakh, that is, a jump of about 238 percent has been recorded in one year. Because of this, a discussion has started on social media and in the education world whether the board may have to consider a big decision like re-doing the 12th exam. However, at present no such official announcement or indication has been given by the board.

Website crashes, students stay awake all night

The board’s portal has been under constant pressure in the last several days after the rechecking process started. Thousands of students complained that the error of Service Not Available is coming repeatedly on the website. Many students have to refresh 8 to 10 times to open a page. Many parents say that the portal works properly only for some time after 2 am, due to which students are forced to go overnight and apply. In many cases, money was deducted from the students’ accounts, but the applications were not submitted.

After all, what are the students demanding?

This time the students are fighting their battle mainly in three phases. The first phase is of marks verification, in which students are getting the totaling and data entry checked. In the second phase, students are asking for their scanned copies, so that they can see for themselves whether any questions have been left unchecked or marks have been deducted wrongly. In the third phase, students are demanding re-evaluation by challenging the evaluation of selected questions. After the growing controversy and technical glitches, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also took cognizance of the matter. The Education Minister has sought a detailed report from CBSE on the complaints of server crash, wrong scanned copy and blurred answer sheets. According to sources, the ministry has also asked to fix the accountability of the external IT agencies involved in this entire process.

CBSE 12th Re-evaluation 2026: If you are a student of CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2026 and are not happy with your result or marks obtained, then a very important update has come out for you. Today is the last date of application for CBSE re-evaluation. Recently, giving great relief to the students, the Central Board of Secondary Education had extended the last date for getting the scanned copy of the answer book. Now students can apply for the scanned copy of their answer book today i.e. till 24th May 2026.

For the past several days, thousands of students were facing difficulty in applying due to heavy traffic and technical problems on the CBSE website. Many times the website was not opening, and at some places errors related to fees were coming to the fore. In such a situation, considering the problems of the students, the board has decided to give one day extra time. This decision has brought relief to those students who want to re-check their copy checking or who feel that their marks are less than expected. After receiving the scanned copy, students can check their answer book carefully and can also apply for re-evaluation or verification if necessary.

Why was the application date extended?

CBSE said in its official notice that due to sudden huge traffic on the website, the pressure on the server had increased. Apart from this, technical problems also arose due to some unauthorized interference attempts. Due to these problems many students were not able to apply on time. Keeping this in mind, the board extended the last date of application from 23 May to 24 May 2026.

When can you apply now?

According to the new notice of CBSE, students can now apply to get the scanned copy of the answer book till 24 May 2026. This is considered to be the last chance for those students who have not been able to apply till now.

What is the additional time for re-evaluation?

The board has made it clear that the students who get their scanned copies will also be given an additional two days to apply for the next stage i.e. verification and re-evaluation. The advantage of this will be that students will be able to understand by looking at their copy carefully where marks have been deducted and which questions need re-checking.

What is the schedule of CBSE?

Central Board of Secondary Education has released the schedule for the students of class 12 board exam 2026. According to this, students can apply to get the scanned copy of their answer book till 24 May 2026. After this, the process of re-evaluation and verification will start from 25 May 2026. Students who feel that there is some kind of mistake in their marks or their copy needs to be re-checked will be able to apply for re-evaluation till May 29, 2026. The board has advised the students to complete all the procedures within the stipulated time limit so that they do not have to face any problem later.

What problems did the students face?

Many students complained that the fees were changing frequently on the website. According to some students, sometimes the fees were seen at Re 1, sometimes at Rs 69 and in some cases up to Rs 8,000 per subject. Apart from this, some students also complained about receiving blurry scanned copies. Many times the website was not able to be logged in and the problem of payment failure also came to the fore.

1. Go to the official website of CBSE.

2. Login by entering your roll number, school number and necessary information.

3. Select the option of Answer Book Scan Copy or Verification/Re-evaluation.

4. Select the required subject and fill the application form.

5. Deposit the fees online.

6. After submission, download the receipt and keep it safe.

CBSE Fake Notice: After the release of CBSE 12th board result, a fake notice regarding the scan copy rechecking process is becoming increasingly viral on social media. It has been claimed in the viral notice that the photocopy of answer sheet and re-evaluation process for class 12 students has been cancelled. However, the Central Board of Secondary Education has called this claim completely fake. CBSE has made it clear that the process of scanned copy, verification of marks and re-evaluation will continue as before. The board has appealed to the students and parents not to believe any rumor or viral message and get information only from the official website.

CBSE issued fake news alert

CBSE issued a notification on its official social media handle saying that a fake circular is being made viral, in which it is claimed that the scan copy and rechecking process has been stopped. The board has called it completely wrong and misleading. The Board has said that CBSE is fully committed to maintaining transparency, fairness and accuracy in the evaluation and revaluation process. Every real problem of the students will be examined by subject experts as part of the process.

Scan copy application date also extended

In view of the technical difficulties, the board has also extended the last date of application for scanned copy. Earlier the last date of application was fixed as 22nd May, later it was changed to 23rd May and now students have been given a chance to apply till 24th May 2026. The board says that this decision has been taken after continuous technical problems surfaced on the portal, so that no student is deprived of applying.

Many technical problems faced on the portal

During the process that started on May 20, many students complained of problems in the portal. Initially the website remained closed for a long time, after which many students had to face problems like payment failure, application not being successful and scanned copy not being downloaded. Students also complained that the fee per copy was erroneously shown at Rs 69,000 on the portal. After continuous complaints, the board instructed the technical team to fix the problems.

How will the revaluation process happen?

Under the new system of CBSE, students will first have to get the scanned copy of their evaluation answer sheet. After this, if the students wish, they can apply for verification or re-evaluation of marks. The board says that the purpose of the process is to give students an opportunity to see their copies in a transparent manner, so that any kind of doubt can be removed.
