CBSE has made many major changes in the On Screen Marking (OSM) and rechecking/re-evaluation process this year. The biggest change is that now students will first get a chance to see the scanned copy of their evaluated answer sheet. Only after this they will be able to decide whether they want to apply for verification or re-evaluation or not.

When can you apply?

According to CBSE, from May 19 to May 22, 2026, students will be able to apply only for a scanned copy or photocopy of their answer sheet. The process of verification of marks and re-evaluation will run later from 26 May to 29 May 2026. That means the entire rechecking process is not starting from May 19, but the portal will be opened only to view the answer sheet. According to CBSE Chairperson Rahul Singh, the portal will be opened in the first half of the day on May 19. At the same time, CBSE sources say that the portal can be started by around 9:50 am. This portal will remain open till 11:59 pm on 22nd May.

When will I get the scanned answer sheet?

According to sources, CBSE is preparing to provide students with their scanned answer sheets within about 48 hours of application. With this, students will be able to quickly know whether there is any mistake in their copy or not. This time CBSE has changed the order of the entire process. Earlier, students used to get a photocopy after verification and then got a chance for re-evaluation, but now the scanned copy will be available first. With this, students will be able to see their own copy and understand whether they need further verification or re-evaluation or not. Verification of marks does not mean re-checking the answers. In this it will only be seen whether the total is correct or not, whether any answer is left unchecked and whether there is any mistake in uploading the marks.

What will be checked in re-evaluation?

Whereas in re-evaluation, only those questions will be re-examined for which the student has applied. That is, if a student feels that he has got less marks in a particular question, then he can ask for re-evaluation for the same question.

Fees also reduced

CBSE has also reduced the fees significantly this time. Fees have been fixed at ₹100 for scanned copy, ₹100 for verification of marks and ₹25 per question for re-evaluation. Earlier this fee was quite high. CBSE has also said that if the student’s marks increase after re-evaluation, the fees deposited will be refunded. Fees will not be refunded if marks do not increase.

The entire process will remain online

The entire process will be online only and no offline application will be accepted. Students are being advised to apply for re-evaluation only after looking at the scanned copy carefully, because the fees will be charged according to each question. Also, there is expected to be more traffic on the portal, hence students are being advised not to wait till the last day.

When will the results be declared after re-evaluation and verification?

CBSE has not yet announced any official date for the revised results of re-evaluation and verification, but looking at the current schedule, it is believed that the updated results of the students can be released in June 2026. Actually, the process of verification of marks and re-evaluation will continue till May 29. In such a situation, it may usually take 2 to 3 weeks to get the revised marks. That means students are expected to get updated results by mid-June or last week of June. However, an official announcement by CBSE regarding this is awaited.
