Indian killed in Kuwait attack: The Indian Embassy in Kuwait on Wednesday confirmed that an Indian citizen was killed in Iran’s attack on Kuwait International Airport. This attack happened when tension had increased again in the Gulf area. Iran launched missile and drone attacks on targets in Kuwait and Bahrain. Here, America has conducted army operations near Hormuz.

Kuwait’s Health Minister has said that at least 63 people have been injured in this attack. These include airport employees and passengers. According to Kuwaiti officials, Iran’s drone and missile attack has caused damage to airport facilities and diplomatic missions. One person has died among them. Many others have been injured. Flights at Kuwait International Airport have been temporarily stopped.

The Indian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement regarding this entire matter. He has said that we strongly condemn the attack on Kuwait International Airport today. An Indian citizen died in this. Will the ceasefire be broken?

The Civil Aviation Authority later announced that Kuwait Airways was resuming flights from Terminal 4 after assessing the damage and implementing safety measures. The recent attack has also made the ceasefire in April tense. Oil prices increased by more than 2 percent. There remains uncertainty around Hormuz.

Bahrain’s army said that it intercepted three missiles and several drones. This action took place at a time when Iran claimed that it had targeted the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain. Besides, an airbase and helicopters located in another regional country were also attacked.

The US military said that two Iranian missiles fired at Kuwait either fell before reaching their targets. Or it broke apart in the air. Other ballistic missiles have also failed to hit their designated targets.

Iran US Talks: Despite tensions between Iran and America, diplomatic talks are continuing. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghei has said that messages are being exchanged continuously between the two countries through Pakistan and Tehran is reviewing America’s latest stance.

In an interview given to state TV channel IRIB TV, Ismail Baghei said that messages have been sent and received several times between Iran and America. He said that Iran is focusing on ending the war on every front, including Lebanon. Iran has some clear demands for this.

Iran put forward its main demands

Iran has demanded that its frozen assets be released. Also, the alleged “piracy” and hostile actions against Iranian ships by America should be stopped. Baghei said Iran has participated in the diplomatic process with honesty and sincerity, but it has deep distrust of Washington because of its “very poor” record over the past 18 months.

Iran’s new strategy regarding Hormuz Strait

An Iranian spokesman said Iran wants to create arrangements with Oman to ensure “permanent security” in the Strait of Hormuz. He said that Iran is ready to make new rules and protocols with other coastal countries for the safe movement of ships in this important sea route.

America sent a new draft proposal

Citing sources close to the Iranian negotiating team, semi-official news agency Tasnim reported that the US has sent a new draft proposal to Tehran after Iran presented a 14-point proposal three days ago. According to the report, the mediator is currently present in Tehran and is trying to bring the drafts of both the parties closer. However, no agreement has been finalized yet.

President Pejeshkian’s big statement

On Wednesday, Iranian President Masoud Pejeshkian wrote on the social media platform X that Iran has always followed its promises and tried to avoid war. He said, “All avenues are still open from our side. The attempt to make Iran bow down by exerting pressure is just an illusion.”

The war lasted for 40 days

There was a ceasefire between Iran, America and Israel on 8 April. Before this the struggle had continued for about 40 days. This conflict started with joint attacks by America and Israel on Tehran and other cities of Iran on 28 February. After the ceasefire, talks were held between the delegations of Iran and America in Islamabad on 11 and 12 April, but no agreement could be reached.

Tension had increased on the Strait of Hormuz

After the war started, Iran strengthened its hold on the Strait of Hormuz and banned the movement of ships belonging to Israel and America. After the failure of Islamabad talks, America imposed a naval blockade on this sea route, due to which the movement of ships coming to and from Iranian ports was affected.

India Iran Talks: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday called his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar and discussed various aspects of the ongoing crisis in West Asia. Two days after Syed Abbas Araghchi’s visit to Moscow, he had a phone conversation with India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar.

Giving information on social media, S Jaishankar said that this evening he received a call from Iran’s Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araghchi. He said that various aspects of the current situation were discussed in detail and both sides agreed to remain in touch.

Iranian Embassy issued statement

The Iranian Embassy in New Delhi said the two sides discussed and exchanged views on latest developments related to the ceasefire, bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues. It is believed that the situation arising out of the US blockade and restrictions imposed by Iran on the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz is also believed to have been mentioned in the conversation. The Iranian Foreign Minister visited Moscow after visiting Oman and Pakistan as part of diplomatic efforts to end the Iran-US war.

Unsuccessful round of peace talks between America and Iran

The first round of peace talks between Iran and America held in Islamabad on 11 and 12 April was not successful in ending the conflict. Last Tuesday, US President Donald Trump indefinitely extended a two-week ceasefire with Iran to give Tehran more time to prepare a unified proposal to end the war. The war began on February 28 when the US and Israel jointly attacked Iran, killing Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several top commanders.

American Middle-East peace efforts break
A day before Trump’s statement, his middle-east peace envoy Steve Vitkoff said that after Hamas’s new proposal, the US has called back its negotiator team and now the team will be consulted again.

Amid the ongoing struggle in the Middle East, Israel launched a big air attack on Syrian capital Damascus. The Syrian Ministry of Defense was targeted in this attack. Syrian army units active in South Syria were also attacked. Local people heard the sound of loud blasts and saw the smoke.

Meeting will be held in UNSC
After the Israeli attack on Syria, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will hold a meeting on Thursday (17 July 2025) for an emergency session on Israeli attacks on Syria. According to the report of the Anadolu news agency, the meeting has been requested by the United Nations Mission of Syria. This has been supported by the current UNSC member Algeria.
