Those who follow my writings know how I express myself best… This was something I used when I couldn’t speak when I wasn’t heard.” He further said that the letters became a way to save his marriage and protect his family. She said that her initial writings were “attempts to boost my husband’s ego, show commitment, and heal the cracks in the relationship.”

However, with time, his style of writing changed. She said, “My letters began to reflect the reality I was living. They described the abuse I was witnessing and enduring, my voice being repeatedly silenced, my voice not being heard, and the constant accusations against me.”

Addressing the frequent speculations about violent marriages, Selena made it clear that showing love in public does not mean that there is no pain. She wrote, “My expression of love was an attempt to endure and survive, not proof of the absence of abuse.” She further said that many people stay in violent relationships because of hope, fear, responsibility, and love. She said, “They stay and continue to show love, not because they are weak, but because hope, fear, responsibility, and love are often the things that keep them alive.”

Jaitley has claimed that this deed was executed when she was mentally weak and has alleged that Haag later rented out the property without his knowledge, earning around Rs 1.26 crore. The petition further alleges that Haag sold the property they jointly purchased in Vienna without informing her, and that Haag’s abuse increased after the family moved to a small village in Austria.

Like Mumbai, the divorce case of Haag and Celina is also going on in Austria. Haag had filed for divorce in an Austrian court this year, reportedly blaming Jaitley for the breakdown of her marriage. His legal team has said that the Austrian court has recently allowed Jaitley to talk to the children on the phone for an hour a day, whereas earlier Haag had reportedly cut off contact with the children for some time. Jaitley has claimed in his domestic violence petition that he has been prevented from having contact with his children since the legal action was initiated in India.

The Mumbai court has asked to clear the financial conditions of both the parties before considering interim relief. The next hearing of the case will be on January 27, when the court will review the affidavit and hear Jaitley’s interim application.
