After newly elected Nitin Naveen took charge as the National President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he has been given high level armed VIP security by the Central Government. Officials said on Tuesday (January 20, 2026) that the new BJP President Nitin Naveen has been given Z category security of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

He said that a few weeks ago, the Union Home Ministry had directed the CRPF to hand over the responsibility of security to Nitin Naveen after he was announced as the new national president of BJP. He said that armed CRPF commandos will accompany BJP President Nitin Nabin during his tours across the country.

Nitin Naveen is the youngest leader ever to reach the top post of the party. He has been elected as MLA in Bihar for five consecutive times and has also held the post of minister in the Bihar government. His appointment has come at a time when assembly elections are going to be held in many states of the country, in view of which BJP is emphasizing on its organizational expansion.

Who has got VIP security of CRPF?

JP Nadda, who was the national president of BJP before Nitin Naveen, was also provided similar security by the Central Government, which was arranged by the VIP security wing of CRPF.

Whereas under the Central Security List, VIP security categories range from the highest level Z-Plus (ASL) to Z-Plus, Z, Y-Plus, Y and X. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gandhi family and many other politicians and persons holding high positions are under the protection of CRPF. At present, about 200 VIPs are included in the security cover of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Munir ahmad news: Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court have issued notice to the Union Home Ministry (MHA) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in response to a writ petition filed by former CRPF constable Munir Ahmed. Munir is challenging his dismissal from service after marrying a Pakistani woman.

Justice Javed Iqbal Wani passed the order after hearing the initial arguments in the petition filed through advocate Ankur Sharma. The court has asked the Ministry of Home Affairs and CRPF to reply before the next hearing on June 30.

Munir Ahmed told his dismissal arbitrary

Munir Ahmed, who has worked in CRPF till May 2, 2025. He argues that his dismissal was ‘arbitrary and manmaouji’. He argues that he had followed all the procedures and repeatedly informed his senior officials about his intention to marry his cousin Meenal Khan, a Pakistani citizen whose family came from Bhalwal Tehsil of Jammu in 1947.

Munir applied for the first time in 2022

His application was first presented in 2022 with objections in January 2023. However, official correspondence in 2023 and 2024- including CRPF Inspector General and Certification of the then Director General- has confirmed that Ahmed had informed the department as per the rules established.

Despite this, Ahmed was shifted to the 41st Battalion in Bhopal in March 2025, where his wife’s Pakistani origin was also mentioned in the official posting diary. A termination order was issued in May 2025.

Munir Ahmed presented recommendation letters of BJP leaders

To support his petition, Ahmed has presented recommendations of senior BJP leaders. Rajya Sabha MP Ghulam Ali Khatana in February 2025, Foreign Minister S.K. Writing a letter to Jaishankar requested immediate visa approval for Ahmed’s wife. In February 2024, a similar letter was sent to the then Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra by Jammu-Riyasi MP Jugal Kishore Sharma.

The case brings out the legal and procedural complications faced by security personnel in cross -border marital matters. It is expected that the upcoming hearing of the High Court will set an example for similar cases in future.

Supreme Court Directs Union Home Ministry: The Supreme Court has clearly stated in its judgment that in view of the operational and functional needs of the forces, it is necessary that the cadre officials should be posted in senior positions. Along with this, the lateral entry of IPS officers in paramilitary forces is facing a lot of problems for cadre officers to reach high positions. In such a situation, the Supreme Court has directed to reduce the appointment of IPS officers coming on deputation in the next two years.

Currently, officers are appointed in central police forces in two ways. From Assistant Commandant to DIG, officers of the cadre are usually appointed. The IPS officer is appointed from IG to Director General (DG) posts. These IPS officers come on a central appointment on deputation for some time.

Responsibility of central paramilitary forces

Central paramilitary forces include CRPF, BSF and ITBP, besides Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

If the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is responsible for internal security and law and order, then BSF is responsible for the security of Pakistan and Bangladesh border. The SSB is responsible for the security of Nepal and Bhutan and the India-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is responsible for the border with China (Tibet). CISF is responsible for the protection of important institutions and heritage of the country. NDRF is responsible for fighting natural and human disasters.

SSC Cadre officers join central police forces through

If the cadre officers pass the examination of the Service Selection Commission (SSC), they appear in the Central Police Forces, then the Indian Police Service (IPS) officers join the separate police of the states through UPSC examination. Only these IPS officers are posted in senior positions in the Central Police Forces on central deputation for some time.

Supreme Court directed to review

In recent years, cadre officers have been appointed till ADG rank. But the number of such officers is very less. This is the reason that the matter reached the Supreme Court. The two member bench of the Supreme Court has now directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to review the cadre.

CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) is the largest paramilitary force in India, which is to strengthen the country’s internal security system. In such a situation, the DG of CRPF is not only the head of the largest force, but its impact and decisionality is also quite widespread.

Airports, nuclear plants, metro, government establishments and many private sector companies are handed over to CISF. Technically, both DG rank and grades are the same, IPS officers of DG (Director General), who are appointed by the Central Government. But the DG post of CRPF is generally considered more powerful, because under it, the number of soldiers is more and the field is more activated.

Whose salary is more?

Both DG get great salary, which is about Rs 2,25,000 per month. Apart from this, they also get many other allowances. That is, both CRPF and CISF DG get equal pay in terms of salary.
