The monsoon has once again wreaked havoc in Himachal Pradesh. Life has been disturbed due to continuous rains in the state. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert of heavy to very heavy rain for Chamba, Kangra and Kullu districts today (31 August). At the same time, a yellow alert of heavy rains has been issued in Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur.

On September 1, there will be a yellow alert of rain in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Mandi and Shimla. The same situation will remain in Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur on September 2. The weather may be bad from September 3 to 5, although no alert is issued these days.

839 roads closed so far, Chamba’s bad condition

According to the State Emergency Operations Center, 839 roads are closed so far. These include 286 in Chamba, 197 in Mandi, 175 in Kullu, 61 in Kangra, 38 in Sirmaur and 28 in Shimla. Apart from this, three national highways are also stalled in Kullu and Mandi districts. The supply of electricity and water is also badly affected. 728 transformers and 456 drinking water schemes are closed.

320 people died so far

So far 320 people have lost their lives in the monsoon season, while 377 people are injured and 40 people are still missing. The maximum number of deaths have been 51 in Mandi and 49 in Kangra. 36 people have died in Chamba, 29 in Shimla, 28-28 in Kullu and Kinnaur.

Loss of crores in Himachal

So far 4041 houses have been damaged, out of which 824 have completely collapsed. The maximum 1592 houses were damaged in the mandi, of which 517 fell completely. Apart from this, 467 shops and 3646 animals have been destroyed.

A total of Rs 3042 crore has been damaged by the monsoon. In this, there has been a loss of 1693 crore to the Public Works Department and 1070 crores to the Water Power Department.

Heavy rain in the last 24 hours

In the last 24 hours, Chamba’s Chuadi received the highest 100 mm of rain. 90 in Jogindernagar, 70-70 in Rampur Bushahar and Dharamshala, 60-60 mm in Shimla, Katuala, Nahan and Palampur.

There was an uproar in a remote and tribal area of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday when students of government school demonstrated to fill the vacant teacher posts. This is the case of Lamu village, where only one teacher was posted in the Government Senior Secondary School. Now he too was transferred.

Angered by this, school children protested outside the school and shouted slogans. The special thing is that the students had written their demands on ‘Takhti’. After this, he also blocked the road connecting Lamu with Choli and Quarcy for some time.

Students say that when there is no one to teach in school, how will they improve their future. They want the government to send new teachers to the school as soon as possible.

Sarpanch Lal Chand of Lamu village also expressed concern on this matter. He said, “There is already a lack of facilities in our area. Now if children do not get the right to study, then it is injustice to their future. Parents are very upset and we request the government to send enough teachers to school as soon as possible.”

Local people say that this area comes in the tribal area, where it is not easy to reach. Due to this, development works are already done slowly here. But if the essential subject like education is ignored, then it will be very harmful for the future of children.

What does the government say?

There is no response from government officials so far. But the local panchayats and villagers have warned that if there is no soon resolution, they will start a big movement. Students and parents demand that permanent teachers be deployed in the school as soon as possible so that the education of children does not stop.

Earthquake tremors were felt on Friday morning at Chamba, Himachal. The earthquake was 3.5 intensity. At present, no loss is reported. However, people were shocked by earthquake tremors. The earthquake felt at 6.23 am, which stayed for a few seconds. Its effect was felt in Chamba as well as the surrounding areas.

According to the Shimla Meteorological Center, the epicenter of the earthquake was 32.36 degrees northern latitudes and 76.18 degrees at the east longitude and its depth was recorded five kilometers below the ground surface. It is considered safe to go into an open field during earthquake, hide under strong furniture or stay away from walls.

Himachal is affected by natural disaster

Please tell that Himachal Pradesh is already affected by the natural disaster and people are facing a lot of problems. Since the onset of the monsoon on June 20, there has been 30 percent more rainfall than normal and during this time 31 incidents of floods, 22 incidents of cloudburst and 17 landslides occurred, in which many people lost their lives and there was heavy damage to buildings, agricultural land and forests.

Due to this, the state has lost about Rs 740 crore so far. A total of 85 people have died, out of which 54 died in rain -related incidents, 31 died in road accidents. At the same time, 129 have been injured, while 34 people are still missing.

Earthquake occurred in Delhi-NCR on Thursday

It is worth mentioning that earlier in Delhi-NCR, a strong tremor of earthquake was sparked twice at around 9 am on Thursday morning, which was in Jhajjar district of Haryana, whose intensity was recorded at 4.4 and 3.0 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was 10 km north of Jhajjar city, which was measured 10 kilometers below the land.
