<p style="text-align: justify;">The monsoon has once again wreaked havoc in Himachal Pradesh. Life has been disturbed due to continuous rains in the state. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert of heavy to very heavy rain for Chamba, Kangra and Kullu districts today (31 August). At the same time, a yellow alert of heavy rains has been issued in Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">On September 1, there will be a yellow alert of rain in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Mandi and Shimla. The same situation will remain in Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur on September 2. The weather may be bad from September 3 to 5, although no alert is issued these days.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;"><strong>839 roads closed so far, Chamba&#8217;s bad condition</strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the State Emergency Operations Center, 839 roads are closed so far. These include 286 in Chamba, 197 in Mandi, 175 in Kullu, 61 in Kangra, 38 in Sirmaur and 28 in Shimla. Apart from this, three national highways are also stalled in Kullu and Mandi districts. The supply of electricity and water is also badly affected. 728 transformers and 456 drinking water schemes are closed.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;"><strong>320 people died so far</strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">So far 320 people have lost their lives in the monsoon season, while 377 people are injured and 40 people are still missing. The maximum number of deaths have been 51 in Mandi and 49 in Kangra. 36 people have died in Chamba, 29 in Shimla, 28-28 in Kullu and Kinnaur.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Loss of crores in Himachal</strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">So far 4041 houses have been damaged, out of which 824 have completely collapsed. The maximum 1592 houses were damaged in the mandi, of which 517 fell completely. Apart from this, 467 shops and 3646 animals have been destroyed.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A total of Rs 3042 crore has been damaged by the monsoon. In this, there has been a loss of 1693 crore to the Public Works Department and 1070 crores to the Water Power Department.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Heavy rain in the last 24 hours</strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In the last 24 hours, Chamba&#8217;s Chuadi received the highest 100 mm of rain. 90 in Jogindernagar, 70-70 in Rampur Bushahar and Dharamshala, 60-60 mm in Shimla, Katuala, Nahan and Palampur.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In Himachal Pradesh, the monsoon is again in the form of rage. Many parts of the state received heavy rainfall, which was completely affected by life. Shimla, Solan, Mandi, Chamba, Kangra and Bilaspur districts received heavy rains. Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, Kasauli, Solan recorded the highest 150 mm rainfall.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Rainfall was recorded at 120 mm at Dharampur and Mandi&#8217;s Gohar, 100 mm in Chuadi of Chamba, 90 mm in Nagrota Suri and Naina Devi, 80 mm in Sundernagar and 60 to 70 mm of rainfall at many places including Gaggal Airport.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Water level of Pong Dam reached 1372.03 feet</strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The water level of Pong Dam in Kangra reached 1372.03 feet, leaving 23300 cusecs of water in the evening. At present, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert of heavy rains in various districts of the state till August 12.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">There is alert of heavy rains in Solan and Sirmaur on 7 August, Kangra, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur on 8 and Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra and Mandi on 9 August.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Due to this heavy rains, landslides have increased across the state, due to which four national highways and 533 roads have been closed. Along with this, 635 power transformers and 266 drinking water schemes have also come to a standstill.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">NH-3 and NH-21 in Mandi, NH-305 in Kullu and NH-5 in Kinnaur are blocked. 314 roads are closed in Mandi alone, 117 in Kullu, 26 in Shimla and 23 in Kangra have been affected.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Old bridge collapsed due to flash flood in Mochaka Nala</strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Electricity and water supply has also been affected, 304 transformers have been closed in Solan, 285 in Mandi and 41 in Shimla, while 88 schemes of Mandi, 120 in Kangra and 27 schemes are affected in drinking water schemes.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Life in rural areas has been affected due to continuous rains in Kullu district. Many houses and vehicles have been damaged due to floods in Kutli village of Bagipul of the district. The old bridge collapsed from the flash flood in Mochaka Nala of Nirmand subdivision.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the landslide monitoring report of the State Disaster Management Department, landslides are being monitored in 21 sensitive places in Mandi, Kangra, Shimla and Solan districts, where most places are predicted to moderate threats.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Monitoring continues in 15 places including Parashar, Kotaropi, Sandhol, Tattapani and Griffin Peak of Mandi, while active monitoring is also going on in Kangra&#8217;s Dharamshala and Colony Kangra, Shimla&#8217;s Jatog and Solan&#8217;s Dagshai. The need to take special vigilance in these areas is said to be in the midst of continuous rains.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Loss of 1905 crores in disaster </strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This time, since the onset of monsoon in the state from June 20, 199 people have died in rain -related incidents, while 36 people are missing and 304 have been injured. The maximum 42 deaths have occurred in Mandi.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">During this period 1786 houses have been damaged, out of which 367 have been completely demolished. 298 shops and 1690 cowsheds have also fallen. 1118 houses and 267 shops have been damaged in Mandi alone.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Due to this disaster, the state has lost Rs 1905 crore so far, in which the Public Works Department has lost 1009 crore and the Water Power Department has lost 648 crores. So far, 58 flash floods, 28 cloudbursts and 51 landslides have been occurred in the monsoon season.</p>
