India’s space agency ISRO is today one of the major space agency in the world. This journey of scientists who once launched rockets from church and bicycle, bullock carts have reached the human mission Gaganyaan today. The glimpse of this historic journey is seen on ISRO Day, celebrated on August 23 every year.

Travel started from church

India’s first rocket launch took place on 21 November 1963 from Thuba village in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. A Latin Catholic Church here was made laboratory and from there the American Nike Apache rocket was sent to space. This experiment started from the local fishermen’s settlement and became the foundation of India’s space program.

Rocket by bullock cart and bicycle

There was a huge shortage of resources in the initial stages. Scientists had to resort to bicycles and bullock carts to carry satellite and rocket parts. In 1981, when the first communication satellite Apple was launched, the bullock cart was used to place it on a metalless platform. This picture still testifies to ISRO’s struggle and passion.

From Aryabhata to Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan

In 1975, India’s first satellite was launched from Aryabhata Soviet Union. After this, the Insat series gave India a communication revolution. At the same time, launch vehicles like PSLV and GSLV made the country self -sufficient. In the 21st century, ISRO achieved success on Moon and Mars. In 2008, Chandrayaan-1 surprised the world by discovering water on the moon and in 2013 Mangalyaan made India the first country in Asia to enter Mars orbit in the first attempt.

Preparation of Gaganyaan and Indian Space Station

Now ISRO is preparing for human mission Gaganyaan 2025. Recently, ISRO chief V. Narayan announced to launch the Test Mission in December. Along with this, work is also going on on the plan of Indian space station.

Importance of ISRO Day 2025

ISRO Day will be celebrated across the country on 23 August. This date is special because Chandrayaan-3 successfully landed on the moon in 2023 on this day. That place was named Shiva Shakti Point and this day was declared National Space Day. This time the theme is pioneer space innovation for a sustainable future. Its aim is that space technology should be used not only scientific research but also in the solution of challenges like agriculture, disaster and climate change.

After giving a befitting reply to Pakistan under Operation Sindoor, India is going to do such a big job, which will give a big setback to Pakistan and its Jiggeri friends- China, Turki and Azerbaijan. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) announced on Thursday (May 15, 2025) that it had held a third face-to-face technical meeting (TIM-3) with the Japanese Space Agency JAXA for the Chandrayaan-5/Lupax (lunar polar exploration) mission.

ISRO said that the Chandrayaan-5/Lupax Mission will prove to be an important milestone in India’s lunar exploration campaign, which has been envisaged by Indian skyscrapers (astronauts) to land on the moon by 2040.

According to the information given by the Indian Space Agency, ISRO, JXA and Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) were attended by senior officials, project officials and technical team members in a meeting held at ISRO’s headquarters from 13 to 14 May.

According to ISRO, Chandrayaan-1, Chandrayaan-2 (Orbiter-based lunar exploration), Chandrayaan-3 (Lander-Rover-based in-Situ exploration) and upcoming Chandrayaan-4 (India’s first lunar sample return mission) will be the fifth in the Chandrayaan-5/Loopax Mission Chandra Missions, constructing on the legacy of the lunar-4 (India’s first lunar sample return mission).

The organization said that this mission will be carried out to study the volatile materials of the moon, including water in the surrounding areas of the southern pole (PSR) of the Moon, in collaboration with JXA. According to ISRO, this mission will be launched by Jixa through its H3-24L projection vehicle. This mission will take with it to the Chandra Lander Japan -made Chandra Rover MHI built by the Indian Space Agency. According to a statement issued here, apart from Chandra Lander, ISRO will also have the responsibility of developing some scientific equipment for the mission.

The space agency said that scientific equipment for the mission will be provided by ISRO, JXA, ESA (European Space Agency) and NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), which is integral to the study of all the lunar polar fields and in-situ analysis of reserved volatile substances in the lunar polar region and in-situ analysis (it is implemented) in the study of their natural, untouchables, or events.

The Central Government gave the Chandrayaan-5/Lupax Mission on March 10, 2025 as financial approval. During the meeting, ISRO’s scientific secretary M Ganesh Pillai congratulated the two teams for technical achievements so far and emphasized the importance of cooperative efforts for scientific and technical aspects of the mission.

The first trial of Mission Gaganyaan to send humans to the country’s first space will be done by the end of this year. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has started preparations for this. Earlier this trial mission was to be done at the end of the previous year and in March this year.

ISRO Chairman, V Narayanan said that from October this year, three -crucified space missions will be tried. This will be followed by two crew trial missions. The country’s first Astronaut will fly in an orbital space flight in 2027. With the success of this mission, India will become the fourth country in the world to send Human Mission in Space. Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, Ajit Krishna and Angad Pratap as well as Wing Commander Shubanshu Shukla have been selected as Astronauts for Gaganyaan Mission.

Narayanan said that before the launch of Gaganyaan, in June this year, an Indian Astronaut will be part of the crew going to the International Space Station (ISS). This will give the Indian astronaut experience to understand and experiment in space. He said, “There has been a lot of progress about this mission. Ground infrastructure is being prepared for this. Training of astronauts is in the final stages.”

Recently, the central government approved ISRO for the Chandrayaan-5 mission. This mission can provide important information about the atmosphere and other conditions on the moon. India aims to send a human mission on the moon by 2040. Around 350 kg of rover can be used in Chandrayaan-5 mission. Japan’s cooperation will also be taken in this mission. Earlier ISRO has started preparations for the Chandrayaan-4 mission. In this mission, samples from the moon will be collected and brought to the earth. Last year, the Chandrayaan-4 mission was approved by the government. ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 mission was successful. Some important information related to the moon was obtained from this mission. The total load of Chandrayaan-4 will be around 9,200 kg. This is more than doubled compared to Chandrayaan-3. Due to its high size, the use of two launch vehicle mark-III (LVM 3) rockets will be necessary. <!--

In the last few years, India has made rapid progress in space -related missions. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has started preparing for its next Lunar Exploration Program. Chandrayaan-4 Mission is to be launched in 2027. The purpose of this mission is to collect samples from the surface of the moon and bring it back to the earth along with doing soft landing on the South Pole of the moon.

ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 mission was successful. Some important information related to the moon was obtained from this. The total load of Chandrayaan-4 will be around 9,200 kg. This is more than doubled compared to Chandrayaan-3. Due to its high size, it is necessary to use two launch vehicle mark-III (LVM 3) rockets. These rockets will take five different modules to the earth’s orbit, where these modules will be docing before the Moon’s visit. ISRO has reported that four of these modules will go towards the moon and two modules will be landing. One module will remain on the surface of the moon and the second sample will bring back to the earth.

This is India’s first mission to bring samples to earth. This will increase India’s scientific and technical abilities in Space Research. Recently, Science and Technology Minister, Jitendra Singh had said, “Chandrayaan-3 mission aims to bring back the samples from the surface of the moon to the earth.” There is a preparation to launch some very important missions of ISRO in the coming years. These include Gaganyaan Mission. In this mission, astronauts will be sent to low-end orbit. The Gaganyaan Mission is to be launched next year.

Recently ISRO launched its 100th mission. In this mission, navigation satellite was launched with a GSLV rocket from the spaceport of Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. It is the second satellite in the Indian subcontinent to provide accurate positions, valos and timings to users in the Navigation with the Indian Consultation (NAVIC) series. The Navic consists of five second generation satellite. NVS-02 is designed and developed by UR Satellite Center. Its weight is about 2,250 kg. It has navigation payloads in L1, L5 and S bands. <!--

Chandrayaan-3 Mission: With the help of Chandrayaan-3 mission, scientists are getting an important information about the moon. Data was assembled by Chandrayaan Mission, its study has revealed that there can be many more places on the moon where snow can be present. These places are being mentioned below its surface. Scientists believe that the estimate about ice on the moon can be found in more places than that.

After studying the data of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, scientists are saying that even a slight change in temperature on the surface of the moon can affect the process of snow formation. According to Durga Prasad Karanam, the main writer of the Faculty in Physical Research Laboratory in Ahmedabad, and if these particles of ice are seen, they are seen saying various stories of their birth and history.

This can tell how the process of accumulating snow on the surface of the moon and over time how this snow changed its place. In this way, by studying these particles, it can be ascertained how the early geological procedures on this natural satellite of the Earth must have been. Study The Communications have been published in the Earth and Environment Journal.

Researchers for the study analyzed the temperature measured at a depth of the moon, and at a depth of 10 cm below it. The measures were taken by ‘Chaste’ on the Vikram lander of Chandrayaan-3. The lander landed at about 69 degrees south latitudes on the edge of the southern pole region of the moon. This landing site has a slope towards the sun which is at an angle of six degrees.

The authors here found that the temperature reached about 82 degrees Celsius during the day and fell to -170 ° C at night. Based on this difference of temperature in this way, the team developed a model of how the angle of slope can affect surface temperature at high lunar latitude. That is, what angle is formed in the context of the sun on the surface, it greatly affects the temperature of the surface.
