The Indian team is still in a phase of change, the senior players who were fulfilling responsibilities for years are now being handed over to the young players. Whether Test cricket or T20, now most of the players are playing those who can play for about 10 years in future. In the last 8 months, 8 Indian cricketers have retired, some of them had to take retirement from the heart. The players who have retired this year include Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara.

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma retired from cricket’s shortest format only after winning the T20 World Cup 2024. On 7 May this year, he also announced retirement from Test cricket. It is believed that Rohit had to take the test under the pressure of retirement management, he was not able to score a big score in the test for many times. Rohit scored 4301 runs in 67 Tests with an average of 40.57, including 12 centuries and 18 half -centuries.

Virat Kohli

Kohli scored 9230 runs at an average of around 47 in 123 Tests, including 30 centuries and 31 half -centuries.

R Ashwin

Ashwin retired from international cricket on 18 December 2024. Ashwin announced this at the press conference after the Gaba Test. The reason for his retirement was also not constant selection on foreign tours. He had told that he now wants to give more time to the family. Ashwin has taken 537 wickets in 106 Tests and scored 3503 runs. He played 116 ODIs and 65 T20 matches.

Cheteshwar Pujara

The latest Indian player to retire is Cheteshwar Pujara, who was being ignored for a long time. Pujara retired from all format of cricket.

Former Indian veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin believes that Cheteshwar Pujara’s strong and defensive batting at number 3 has played an important role in success in Virat Kohli’s number 4 in the last 10 years. Please tell that Pujara retired from all the formats of cricket on Sunday. Pujara is counted among the most trusted Test batsmen in India. Pujara has played an important role in India’s many historic victories in Test cricket.

Pujara has a very big hand in Kohli’s runs- Ashwin

Ashwin said on his YouTube channel, “Whether you believe or not, Pujara’s contribution to number 3 has been very important in making Virat Kohli’s run. I also have an example of this. In the last Test played in the Wanderers against South Africa, the pitch was considered dangerous for some time. In that match, Pujara played 53 balls to open the account in that match. Wanderers’ pitch was very difficult, the ball was moving around and it was very difficult to play. “

Ashwin compared Pujara to the character of Game of Thrones

Ashwin compared Pujara to the character of the famous show Game of Thrones. Ashwin said, “Cricket lover fans definitely knows the contribution of Cheteshwar Pujara. If you have seen the Game of Thrones, there is a character in it, ‘White Walker’. I call Pujara the same kind of ‘white walker’. He walks slowly, but never leaves the field.”

Virat kohli reaction on pujara retirement: Cheteshwar Pujara, the legendary player of Indian Test cricket, announced his retirement from all the formats of cricket on 24 August. After Pujara’s retirement, veteran players Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir to Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant also reacted. At the same time, Virat Kohli’s reaction has come out after Pujara retired from cricket. Virat has remembered the matches played with Pujara in a special way.

Virat Kohli shared emotional post

Virat Kohli has shared a special message for Cheteshwar Pujara on his Instagram story. Virat shared a photo of the Test match with Pujara, along with Kohli wrote that ‘Thank you Pujji to make my work easier at number four’. Cheteshwar Pujara used to come to bat at number three in Test and Virat used to bat on fourth. Before Virat’s arrival, Pujara used to stand a mountain of runs for the opposition team.

Virat Kohli further wrote for Pujara that ‘Your career was very fantastic. A lot of shrines and congratulations to you for the coming time. May God be with you’. Cheteshwar Pujara has scored more than 7000 runs in Test cricket. Pujara came to be called the wall of cricket after Rahul Dravid, because he used to stand like a wall in front of the bowlers of the opposition team. It was very difficult for any bowler to dismiss Pujara.

Cheteshwar Pujara, who played 103 Tests and 5 ODIs for the Indian cricket team, announced his retirement from all the formats of cricket on Sunday, August 24. The cricket world congratulated him for a successful career. After this, he said in an interview with the Indian Express that nowadays, after being successful in T20, the player gets a place in the Test team. He also told in it how he used to keep himself calm on the field.

When did Cheteshwar Pujara felt that he was having his full potential tomorrow. He said in an interview to the Indian Express, “At one time in Sri Lanka, when I scored 145 runs on a green pitch in the decisive match. At the time of 123 runs, which he played in Adelaide and yes that 82 runs against Australia at the time of 82 runs, when I batted with a broken finger in Delhi.”

In this interview, Cheteshwar Pujara was asked that there were many injuries on your body, especially on a tour of Australia in 2021. On this, Pujara said, “At such a time it is important to have a big view. You are watching millions of people, you are batting for your country and the whole country is praying for victory. When your body is hurt, sometimes you break but you have to maintain patience. When the pain is involved in the same place, the pain becomes unbearable, your country love and the same place is work only on the same place. I emerge. I believe in God who gives me strength.

Have batsmen become less patient today?

Cheteshwar Pujara said in response to this, “A lot has changed in the game nowadays. If you look at the modern cricketer, he first plays T20 cricket and then plays Test cricket after being successful. This is not only in India but in the whole world because it is the most famous format. It is not bad, because the players should play in all three formats. If they are coming from the first game, then if they are coming from the best game, then they are the best sports and then their best game. There is nothing wrong in this because I think the game is changing and it will be the same.

Cheteshwar Pujara, a trusted batsman of Indian Test cricket, has recently said goodbye to international cricket. He did not get a place in the Indian team since the World Test Championship Final 2023. Despite continuous efforts, he took retirement from his cricketing career on Sunday, 24 August. Pujara, who has been the backbone of Team India for a long time, is known for his patience and discipline, but his discipline also put his wife Pooja in difficult conditions many times.

Actually, an anecdote related to Australia tour of 2018-19 is recently in discussion again. On that tour, when Pujara was preparing for Sydney Test, he told his wife not to stay with him in the hotel. The reason was that he did not want to distract any kind of attention before the match.

“24 hours, find a new house …”

In an interview to The Lalantop, his wife Pooja Pujara mentioned the incident. He told that 3 days before the Test match, Cheteshwar had clearly told him that “you have 24 hours, you find another house or room for yourself. If you stay in the hotel with me, I will not be able to focus on preparation.”

There was also a debate between the husband and wife on this matter. Pooja tried to convince them that it is a stranger city and it would not be easy to find a different place for herself with such a small child. He requested that he should be allowed to stay in the hotel until a new house is found.

Shifted from hotel under compulsion

After a lot of efforts, Pooja hired an apartment nearby and shifted there with the daughter for a few days. This was very difficult for her, but she respected her husband’s decision.

Got big advantage

This discipline of Cheteshwar Pujara was also seen on the field. Pujara batted brilliantly in that series and scored a century. Pooja also forgot all the resentment after this victory. Pujara himself later admitted that this strategy proved to be effective.
