The government has now tightened up to remove the garbage mountains of Ghazipur, Bhalwa and Okhla, which has been a big problem in Delhi for a long time. On this issue, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta held an important meeting with Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh and corporation officials. In this high level meeting, 13 major points were discussed, with the main focus on the lightning of the garbage and cleaning of landfill sites.

Cleaning target by 2026

It was decided in the meeting that the garbage mountains in Ghazipur, Bhalswa and Okhla will be completely cleaned before the scheduled deadline of 2026. For this, the capacity of biomming has been increased from July 2025 to 25,000 tonnes per day (TPD) to 30,000 TPD. This will speed up the speed of garbage removal.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta directed that when the landfill site is completely cleared, one-third of that land should be used for public interest work like school, hospital and sports complex. Future waste processing facilities will be constructed on the rest of the land, so that the problem of waste will not increase further.

West-to-Energy plant gets approval

Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh said that the vest-to-energy plant with 3,000 TPD capacity in Narela-Bawana has now been approved. At the same time, work has started on the plan to set up a new waste-to-energy plant in Ghazipur, for which the tender process has been started. Apart from this, the approval has also been received from the Union Ministry of Urban Ministry for VIITITITE Gap Funding.

CBG plant will open in Ghogha Dairy on 15 August

A new CBG (compressed biogas) plant with 100 TPD capacity in Ghogha Dairy will be launched on 15 August 2025. This will enable better management of wet waste. The government is working on a plan to set up more biogas plants for dairy waste.

Deputy Chairman Jai Bhagwan Yadav, Leader Sadan Pravesh Wahi, Standing Committee Chairman Satya Sharma, Vice President Sundar Singh, Corporation Commissioner Ashwani Kumar, Additional Commissioner Jitendra Yadav and other senior officials were involved in this meeting.

Rekha gupta on delhi jal board: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has taken a historic decision today regarding the cleaning and drinking water supply of Yamuna in Delhi. The CM has given the Delhi Jal Board a gift of economic and administrative autonomy.
