The US space agency NASA has banned Chinese citizens from its prestigious research centers. This decision has been taken keeping in mind security, due to which Chinese scientists and students are not able to reach NASA facilities, content and network. This step has come amid growing space competition between the US and China.

New ban on Chinese citizens
NASA said on 5 September that Chinese citizens who have legitimate visas of America were completely denied NASA system and facilities. These people could only work in NASA as a contractor or a student who contributed to research. NASA confirmed that the step has been taken to “ensure the safety of our work”.

Stress increased due to space competition
China’s rapidly growing space plan is worrying America. Already Chinese astronauts are deprived of the International Space Station (ISS), as the US has prevented NASA from sharing data with China. The new ban will also affect scientific cooperation between the two countries.

Charges of visa and espionage
Recently, many Chinese citizens in America have also been accused of espionage. Especially it has become difficult for students studying in science and technology to get visas and enter America. Some Chinese citizens were also suddenly denied participation in NASA’s data system and meetings.

Official statement of NASA
NASA’s press secretary Bethany Stevens said that “we have taken internal action related to Chinese citizens, including restricting physical and cyber security access to our facilities.” NASA executive administrator Sean Dafi said, “We are currently in the second space race. Chinese want to stop us from going to the moon first. It will not be allowed to happen.”

China’s response
The technical director of China’s manned space agency said last year said that American concern is “unnecessary” and Chinese space exploration is the collective mission of humanity. In the US Senate, lawmaker Chandra Abhiyan has also insisted on the need to transport the US before China.

Competition for resources on the moon
This race is not only to reach the moon, but also to control the resources there. The moon contains minerals such as iron, titanium, rare earth metals and helium, which are used in superconductor and medical devices.

The US Army has deployed its long -range hypersonic missile system dark eagle in the northern region of Australia during the recently held Talisman Cabber practice. This is its first deployment abroad. The US has taken this step to combat China’s growing military influence in the Indo-Pacific region and give a strong message to its colleagues.

This missile system can fly at more than 5 speeds and is capable of accurate attacks up to a distance of about 1,725 miles. Hypersonic missiles can change their routes during flight compared to traditional ballistic missiles. This makes it difficult to stop them.
Dark Eagle System includes:

• Four mobile launchers (two missiles in each one).
• Command and Control Vehicles.
• Support vehicles, which ensure the accuracy of the target.

Its most special feature is the ability to penetrate the Anti-access/Area Dinyl (A2/AD) network, which challenges China’s current strategies.

Hypersonic competition from China and Russia
Dark eagle is deployed at a time when the US is competing with the hypersonic progress of China and Russia. China introduced its DF-17 missile system in 2019, which includes hypersonic glide vehicles. Russia has also carried forward its avanagard hypersonic glide vehicle system. Thus, America aims to bridge this technical difference and maintain military balance in the Indo-Pacific region.

Strategic message sent to Beijing
The northern region of Australia brings several sensitive Chinese installations in the operational range of dark eagle. It also includes routes leading to the Hide and Taiwan of the South China Sea. This gives America a safe and advanced aggressive position from where it can take action even after staying out of China’s reach. This step is a clear message for Beijing that the US and its allies are ready to strengthen their position in the Indo-Pacific region.

The FOBS missile has hypersonic speed -powered weapons, which can target any part of the earth. China also tested this technology with a long March 2C rocket in 2021, which stirred up globally. Hypersonic glide vehicles (HGVs) are not only capable of carrying nuclear weapons but can also be equipped with traditional weapons. Their speed is so high that even the most advanced air defense systems of today cannot stop them.

Why should both America and India be cautious?
According to the chart issued by the Pentagon of America, China can have 60 fobs missiles by 2035. There will be 700 nuclear ICBMS, missiles launched from 132 submarines and 4000 hypersonic glide vehicles. After China, Russia is also moving towards developing this technology. The biggest challenge of fobs is that it can attack from any direction. The US radar system mainly focuses on the North Pole, while the fobs can come from the Southern Hemisphere, making it completely unpredictable.

Donald Trump’s reply: Golden Dome Defense System
Seeing this increasing threat of China and Russia, former US President Donald Trump has approved the Golden Dome missile Defense Shield. This will be the world’s most advanced air defense system so far. The project is expected to cost more than $ 25 billion in the initial phase and more than $ 100 billion in total. It includes several American defense companies including Allen Musk’s company Spacex.
