China increased oil reserves

According to US government data released this week, China had accumulated oil reserves even before the war with Iran started, which is much more than any other country. The data shows that this stock has increased rapidly last year. This is proving to be a strategic advantage at a time when there is an environment of tension in the global energy markets.

China is ahead in these matters also

Data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed that China added an average of 1.1 million barrels of crude oil to its reserves every day in the year 2025. By December 2025, China had a stock of about 1.4 lakh billion barrels of oil. Government data also indicated that China continued to increase its stockpiles until the Iran war broke out in late February.

This reserve of China is more than 3 times larger than America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). Where America has reserves of 400 million barrels of oil. At the same time, China has created a mountain of 140 crore barrels of oil. Apart from oil, China also controls more than 70 percent of solar, wind and electric vehicle supply chains worldwide.

China bought oil at cheap rates from countries like Russia, Iran and Venezuela, which have been banned by western countries. Experts believe that China took this step because it did not want its economy to be affected due to the war. China bought oil at a time when oil prices in the international markets were around $60 per barrel.
