BRICS countries are increasing their purchase of gold

Russia and China are at the forefront in purchasing gold. In 2024, China produced 380 tonnes of gold, while Russia produced 340 tonnes of gold. In this sequence, in September 2025, Brazil bought 16 tonnes of gold, which was its first gold purchase after 2021.

Today the economies of BRICS countries account for about 30 percent of global trade. In such a situation, their monetary decisions also impact the world. These countries have had only one objective for a long time – to reduce their dependence on the US dollar. Actually, BRICS countries want to end the dominance of dollar and want to make the new currency powerful in their sphere of influence. However, Trump has given a stern warning to the BRICS countries to find an alternative to the dollar.

China buying gold: China’s central bank is buying indiscriminate gold. From the seventh consecutive month in August, The People’s Bank of China is buying gold. China’s target becoming the biggest economy

According to media reports, if China is to become the world’s largest economy, then its gold reserve should be more than 8,000 tonnes. Currently, China is far from its target. Currently, China officially has 2,300.4 gold.

Earlier in the year 2009, Deputy Secretary General of China Gold Association, Hua Hua Humin said that China should have at least 5,000 tonnes of gold. After reaching this point, China will become the second largest country to keep the most gold in the world after America. How much gold does which country has?

America’s Gold Reserve has remained the highest in the world for the last 25 years. After this, Germany is second with 3,350 tonnes (78 percent part of the total reserve) at the second number. Italy is third with 2,452 tonnes of gold (75 percent), Russia is at number four with 2,330 tonnes of gold. After this comes the number of China.

China comes after Switzerland, which has 1,040 tonnes of gold. This is 11 percent part of the total reserve here. India’s number comes immediately after Switzerland. India currently has 880 tonnes of gold, which is 13 percent of the total reserve. This is followed by Japan with 846 tons, Türkiye with 637 tons, Netherlands with 613 tons and Poland with 515 tons.
