US President Donald Trump said on Friday (September 19) that the tick talk deal with China has been approved. He gave this information after a phone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Trump also stated that he would visit China early next year and meet Xi Jinping at the regional summit in South Korea in late October.

Trump wrote on Truth Social, “The conversation was very good. We will talk on the phone again. I thank you for the approval of Tik Talk and both of us are eager to meet the APEC conference.” APEC means Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation is an organization of 21 economies in the Pacific region.

President Xi Jinping emphasized bilateral relations

According to China’s official news agency Xinhua, President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of bilateral relations and appealed to the US to avoid unilateral trade ban.

This conversation took place at a time when Tariff War (Fee War), which began during Trump’s tenure, made the relationship between the two countries tense. However, this time the two leaders also discussed trade and tried to reduce the tension made on China’s restrictions on export of rare minerals. These minerals are used from smartphones to fighter jets.

Trump said that although he had demanded European countries to impose more charges on China so that the Russian-Ukraine war would end, but his relationship with China is very good. Trump claimed Tik Talk as great importance, claiming that it helped him win the election again. He had increased the deadline several times to keep the app operational in America. In fact, last year, under the US Act, it was made mandatory to separate the tick talk from the Chinese parent company bytedens so that the concerns arising about data privacy and national security could be resolved.

Chinese officials said that both sides have agreed to use algorithms such as intellectual property rights and have also agreed to hand over the responsibility of data and content security of American users to a partner.
