Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi, has reached Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan after finishing his visit to India on Wednesday (August 20, 2025), where Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and External Affairs Minister Ishaq Dar will also arrive. Wang did not visit Islamabad directly after a visit to New Delhi keeping in mind India’s sensitivity. Rather, he arrived to participate in the tripartite conference of China, Pakistan and Afghanistan to be held in Kabul.

The Taliban government of Afghanistan is going to host the foreign ministers of both neighboring countries of India, Pakistan and China together. However, in this tripartite conference to be held in Kabul, there is going to be discussion about expansion and economic cooperation up to Kabul of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). At the same time, India is also sitting on its eyes on this tripartite meeting to be held in Kabul.

What does Afghanistan want,

According to a Bloomberg report, the Taliban again came to power in Afghanistan four years ago, followed by the first high -level meeting to be held internationally led by the Taliban. Through this tripartite conference with China and Pakistan, the Taliban government is engaged in further strengthening its international validity efforts. Hafiz Zia Ahmed, Deputy Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry of Afghanistan, said in an X post that many important issues including political, economic and regional cooperation will be discussed in this meeting between the three countries.

China to Afghanistan CPEC The proposal to add in

Prior to Kabul, the fifth tripartite conference between these three countries was held in Beijing, the capital of China and it was agreed to include Afghanistan in the CPEC at the Beijing Conference. However, China had proposed to include Afghanistan in CPEC for the first time in December 2017. In this proposal, China wants to build a motorway from Pakistan’s Peshawar to Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. At the same time, the Taliban government has also agreed on this proposal of China.

Why trilateral meeting is the cause of concern for India,

India has been strongly opposing this CPEC of China and Pakistan since the beginning. This corridor of China passes through POK, which is a violation of India’s sovereignty and regional integrity. In such a situation, Pakistan can strengthen its claim on POK by joining this corridor project of Afghanistan. Which is a cause of concern for India.

ALSO READ: ‘Nothing looks wrong in it, but …’, Shashi Tharoor’s first reaction came on the bill removing PM and CM

After the American tariff, there is a change in India’s foreign policy for the last few days. China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit India next week and meet NSA Ajit Doval. His visit is a sign of a large towards change in international diplomacy. While the Chinese Foreign Minister will come to India next week, S Jaishankar will visit Russia on August 21.

China-India comes together, a matter of concern for America

US President Donald Trump wants India to stop taking crude oil from Russia. On this, after a befitting reply from India, America made Pakistan sit next to it. In such a situation, the coming of two big powers like China and India is a matter of concern for America. India is engaged in strengthening relations with Russia and China. In such a situation, it is being speculated that a big decision may come out from Delhi next week.

PM Modi will go to China at SCO conference

After a violent clash between India and China’s army in 2020 in the Galwan of Ladakh, the relationship between the two countries was seen. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also go to China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Conference. During this time Russia will also be present there. China will host the SCO summit in Tianjin from 31 August to 1 September. India is a big market and this is the reason that its relationship with China is in tension due to normal.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi last went to China to attend the SCO summit in June 2018. Chinese President Xi Jinping visited India for the second informal summit in October 2019.

Ajit Doval met Russian President Vladimir Putin, one day after Trump imposed an additional 25 per cent tariff on India. During this, the preparations for the regional security, defense cooperation and the upcoming leadership level meeting were discussed. Last week, NSA Ajit Doval had said that Putin will soon visit India.
