An incident related to the natural disaster of landslide has come to light in China. Here on Friday, land slipped in Chongqing city of South Western China. Due to this, residential buildings were buried. More than 1,100 people had to be taken to a safe place. There is also news of some people being trapped here. Apart from this, Chinese President Xi Jinping has also given instructions for investigation into rescue operations.

8 people died, 34 people missing

According to the report of Xinhua News Agency, at least 8 people have died in the landslide incident. At the same time 34 people are said to be missing. County Chief Ren Juxiang said in a press conference that 18 trapped people were rescued. Of these, 8 died. According to the government channel CCTV, this incident occurred due to landslide at 9:08 am in Pengshui County of Chongqing. Huge quantities of rocks and soil have fallen down the slope. More than 10 residential buildings were buried due to this.

Water, electricity and gas supply cut off at landslide site

Apart from this, to avoid further damage, the supply of water, electricity and gas was cut within a radius of 1 km of the landslide site. Many electric poles were buried. The pictures that have surfaced show that a part of the mountain has fallen in a residential area. There were many buildings near the area buried under the debris. Rescue teams are searching the debris.

If media reports are to be believed, there have been difficulties during the rescue operation. More than 800 rescue workers were present. In photos shared on social media, rescue workers wearing orange uniforms were seen using digging machines to remove the debris. The rescue team pulled out a living person from the debris. Two buildings approximately 5 and 15 storeys high have been damaged. Rain has been said to be the cause of the landslide. This happened near part of the Wujiang River. More than 8 thousand relief materials have been sent to this area. This includes tents, folding beds and emergency kits for families.
