If you are thinking of settling abroad and want to get better health, clean environment and strong health system in the new place, then the recently released Global Health Index report can be useful for you. In these reports, those countries have been ranked where people live longer, have clean air and water, have a strong health care system and have more opportunities to adopt a healthy lifestyle. An average of several international indices has been taken to prepare the ranking. In such a situation, let us now tell you which are the five healthiest countries in the world and at what number does India come among them.

norway

This time Norway has been considered the healthiest country in the world. The average life expectancy here is 83.46 years. Clean air, better environment and strong health system are its main specialties. Norway’s capital Oslo is counted among the greenest cities in Europe. People here make walking, cycling and outdoor activities a part of their lifestyle.

Switzerland

Switzerland is at second place in this list. The average life expectancy here is more than 84 years. Switzerland has a compulsory health insurance system, which provides basic health services to all citizens. The number of doctors and nurses per capita is also quite high. Clean environment and balanced lifestyle keep it on top in the list of healthy countries.

finland

Finland is at number three in this list. There is abundance of green areas here and the air quality is considered better than many countries in Europe. Although some health risks like alcohol and tobacco consumption are present here, the situation has seen improvement due to government policies and awareness campaigns.

Australia

Australia’s lifestyle is based on outdoor activities. Here the government pays special attention to public health programs. The public health system called Medicare provides affordable health care to citizens and permanent residents. The average life expectancy here is around 84 years.

sweden

Sweden comes at number five in this list. Universal healthcare system is implemented here and the government spends a large part of the GDP on health. Clean air and active lifestyle are common in Sweden.

Where is India and Pakistan?

India and Pakistan are not included in the list of top-10 or top-20 healthy countries in the report. Compared to developed countries, countries like India and Pakistan have been facing difficulties on parameters like health infrastructure, environmental quality and life expectancy. According to the data of Global Health Index 2025, the lowest countries include countries like Somalia, North Korea and Timor-Leste, where health facilities are limited.

World Environment Health Day is celebrated on 26 September. Clean air and healthy environment behind celebrating this day is to remind people. At the same time, this year’s theme has been attracted to air pollution and its dangers under clean and healthy peepal. At the same time, increasing pollution in big cities, especially in Delhi NCR, is causing respiratory diseases and people are facing lack of oxygen. In such a situation, people try to increase the amount of oxygen by planting saplings in the house, but the question arises whether planting more saplings can have any negative effect on health.

Indoor plants and clean air

Planting plants indoors is not limited to mere decoration. They act as natural air purifiers and make the air pure by absorbing harmful gases. Plants like Tulsi, Aloe vera, snake plant, Erica Palm and Spider Plant are helpful in increasing indoor oxygen and air quality. Tulsi plant absorbs harmful gases like carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide in the atmosphere, while aloe vera which most people know for skin and health also cleans the air of the house and leaves oxygen at night.

Planting plants in the room is dangerous

Often you must have heard that plants leave carbon dioxide instead of oxygen at night and therefore it can be dangerous to keep plants in the bedroom. Some experts about this suggest that plants break glucose during the evaporation process at night and leave a small amount of carbon dioxide. However, many research suggests that it is nothing compared to the carbon dioxide left by humans. For example, the amount of CO2 left by Ficus, Yuka and Protone plants at night is much less than a human breath. Therefore, keeping plants in the bedroom is not dangerous for health.

Benefits from plants

Indoor plants not only provide oxygen, but also improve mental and physical health. Many research suggests that keeping plants in the house reduces stress and anxiety, mood improves and the feeling of fatigue decreases. Plants like Tulsi, Aloe vera and Erica Palm leaves both day and night, which keeps the environment of the house constant freshness. At the same time, spider plant and snake plant also purify the air by absorbing harmful gases.

Caution to plant more saplings in the house

Planting saplings in the house is beneficial, but it is important that their number and care are balanced. It is considered right to plant 5 to 6 medium size plants in a room. This keeps the air quality and oxygen is provided in sufficient quantity. There is no major risk of planting more saplings, but regular care of plants and maintaining ventilation in the room is necessary.
