Home Cleaning Tips: Even if the house shines, the floors look clean and everything is kept in its place, it is not necessary that your house is completely bacteria free. There are some things and corners in the house which we use many times a day, but forget to clean them regularly. These places can gradually become the reason for the growth of bacteria and viruses.

Especially during changing weather, the risk of viral infection, cold, cough and other diseases also increases. In such a situation, it is not enough to just remove visible dirt, but it is also necessary to clean those places where the most bacteria accumulate. In such a situation, let us know in which corner of the house the most bacteria are hidden and how to clean them.

In which corner of the house are most bacteria hidden?

1. Kitchen Sink and Drain – Most of the bacteria in the house are found in the kitchen sink and its drain. Due to the remaining food particles and moisture, bacteria grow rapidly here.

2. Dish washing sponge – Due to being wet and being used daily, millions of bacteria can accumulate in the sponge. Therefore, it should be cleaned regularly and changed every 2 to 3 weeks.

3. Door handles and switch boards – Everyone in the house touches these things many times throughout the day, due to which bacteria and viruses can easily accumulate on them.

4. Mobile, Remote and Keyboard – Due to repeated touching of hands, mobile phone, TV, AC remote and computer keyboard can also become a big source of bacteria.

5. Chopping Board and Kitchen Platform – Due to cutting vegetables and other food products, bacteria can grow in the cuts of the chopping board. At the same time, not cleaning the kitchen platform can also increase the risk of infection.

6 Bathroom Sinks, Water Bottles and Door Mats – Bathroom sink, daily used water bottles and mats kept outside the house are also common places for accumulation of bacteria. Their regular cleaning is necessary.

Also read – Pillow Cleaning Tips: Is there a strange smell coming from the pillow? Note this secret trick to freshen up in a jiffy without washing.

How to clean them?

To keep these household items clean, sprinkle baking soda on the kitchen sink, then spray a solution of vinegar and water and finally pour hot water into the drain. Soak a dishwashing sponge in vinegar solution overnight or heat a wet sponge in the microwave for about 2 minutes and change every 2 to 3 weeks. Wipe door handles, switch boards, mobiles, remotes and keyboards daily with disinfectant wipes or a clean microfiber cloth. Clean the chopping board and kitchen platform with hot water and soap after every use. Apart from this, clean the bathroom sink, water bottles and door mats regularly, so that the risk of bacteria and viruses growing can be reduced.
Also read – Termite Prevention: Are termites infesting your house during the rains?
Air Purifier Cleaning Tips: The way the air is getting worse in cities. People are resorting to air purifiers to keep themselves safe inside the house. But many people do not keep some things in mind while using air purifiers. Because of which their air purifier does not last long. Many people ignore one thing. The machine will be able to provide good air only when its filter is clean.

These days, the air in Delhi-NCR has reached dangerous levels. So purifiers are running in many houses. But many people do not clean the filters of their purifier for several days. The result is that instead of cleaning the air, the machine actually worsens the quality of the room. So let us tell you how you can make the filter look like new by cleaning it.

Why is it important to keep the filter clean?

A clean filter cleans room air faster and more effectively. With this, particles like dust, pollen and bacteria are easily removed. Another advantage is that the filter does not accumulate dirt. So its lifespan is also longer, which means the expense of buying new filters again and again is saved. Clean filter reduces load on the machine. Due to which it does not draw much electricity. This means better air quality and electricity savings. Therefore, no matter what the weather, keep cleaning the filter from time to time.

Also read: If you use electric kettle in train, you will have to pay this much fine, know the rules

How to clean the filter?

First of all, switch off the purifier and remove the plug. After this, remove the back cover of the machine and carefully take out the filter. To remove the dust accumulated on the filter, use a vacuum cleaner or clean it gently with a dry cloth. Remember to never wash the filter with water. After this, pay attention to the dust sensor installed inside the machine. To clean the sensor, first vacuum the sponge attached to it. Then clean the sensor vent with a light cotton swab. Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft cloth.

Also read: How much money will you get in one year’s gratuity? See the complete calculation at a glance

What things should be kept in mind after cleaning

If your purifier has been switched off for a long time. So keep it in packing cover to protect it from dust. Most machines have an LED indicator that tells when the filter needs to be changed. Don’t ignore it. It is a good habit to clean the filter every two weeks for good performance. If the machine starts making loud noise again and again or starts taking time to improve the air quality. So understand that the time has come to change the filter.

Also read: After selling the car, it is necessary to get RC transferred, know what is the easiest way.

As soon as the winter season arrives, people like to take bath with hot water. In such a situation, the use of geyser or immersion rod in homes also increases. Most of the people use Emerson rod because it is cheap. However, after using it for a long time, a white crust like layer of calcium and magnesium present in water accumulates on the rod. This layer reduces the working capacity of the rod.

Due to which water takes more time to heat and electricity consumption also increases. If such a layer has accumulated on your rod too, then there is no need to panic. You can clean it very easily with some normal things present in the house. So today let us tell you that if a white sheet gets stuck on the immersion rod, then with what things kept in the kitchen you can clean it.

clean with vinegar

Vinegar is considered very effective in removing the white layer on the immersion rod. For this, take so much water in a bucket or deep vessel that the rod is completely submerged. Now add half to one cup of vinegar in it and keep the rod immersed in this water for 30 minutes to 1 hour. If the white layer on the rod is thick then leave it overnight. After this, take out the rod and rub it gently with a soft scrubber and wash it with clean water. Now within a few minutes your rod will start looking like new.

Homemade recipe of lemon and salt

The mixture of acid and salt present in lemon helps in dissolving the white layer of the immersion rod. For this, first of all extract the juice of two to three lemons, add one spoon of salt in it and make a thick paste. Now apply this paste on the layer accumulated on the rod and leave it for 15 to 20 minutes and then rub it with an old toothbrush and wash it with clean water and dry it. This will make your immersion rod brand new and shiny.

Baking soda is also an effective solution

If the white layer on the immersion rod has accumulated too much then baking soda is considered to be the best solution. For this, make a paste by mixing two to three spoons of baking soda with some water. Now apply this paste on the rod and leave it for 20 to 30 minutes. Then rub gently with a sponge scrub and wash with clean water. This will make your rod completely clean.

Keep these things in mind to increase the life of the rod

If you also want to run the immersion rod for a long time, then it is necessary to clean the rod once every 15 to 20 days. At this time the rod not only heats water faster but electricity consumption also reduces and the lifespan of the rod doubles.
