										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Department of Telecommunications (DOT) has directed all social media platforms including Instagram, X, Facebook to remove posts and content that violate the Telecom Act. According to the Telecom Act, 2023, tampering with telecom identification, such as a CLI is a cognizable and non-bailable offense. For such crimes, jails up to three years, a fine of up to Rs 50 lakh, or both can be punished. In addition, people or platforms who assist in such crimes may also face equal punishment.<br />
