Union Minister Chirag Paswan has hit back at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s statement on the army. LJPR chief said that nothing can be more shameful and sad than this. The thinking of the opposition leaders of the country is such that they are dividing our army on caste lines. This statement is extremely shameful. If the country’s army is protecting the people then it does not do so on the basis of caste.

Chirag Paswan said, ‘Congress has ruled the country for the longest period, Indira Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Rajiv Gandhi were their families. If division in the army had to be done in the name of caste, it would have been done. The politics of polarization for votes is different but the army should never be brought into politics. The statement of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has also hurt the sentiments of the country’s soldiers who were martyred on the border.

Rajnath Singh also surrounded Rahul Gandhi

The country’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has also cornered Rahul Gandhi on this statement. He said that there is only one religion for soldiers, military religion. He said, ‘There should be reservation. We support reservation and have given it to the poor, but when it comes to the army our soldiers follow only one religion, the military religion. There is no other religion apart from this. Do not bring politics into the army. Whenever the country has faced crisis, our soldiers have made India proud with their courage and bravery.

What did Rahul Gandhi say?

Rahul Gandhi had said in the Aurangabad rally on Tuesday (November 04, 2025), ’90 percent of the country’s population is from Dalit, Mahadalit, backward, extremely backward or minority communities. If you take out the list of 500 biggest companies, you will not find any person from backward or Dalit communities there. They all come from the top 10 percent. All jobs go to them. The same 10 percent people have control over the army.

Political statements have intensified due to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s controversial statement in the gang rape case of an MBBS student of a private medical college in Durgapur, West Bengal. Putting the responsibility of safety of students on private colleges, Mamta raised the question as to how the student came out of the campus at 12.30 in the night. Regarding this statement, BJP has accused the Chief Minister of blaming the victim.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee described the incident as ‘shocking’ and said that the police is taking all necessary steps. But he also said, ‘She was studying in a private medical college. Whose responsibility is it? How did she go out at 12.30 in the night? Mamata said that private medical colleges should take care of their students and control ‘night culture’. He said, ‘They should not be allowed to come out. This is a forest like area.

Counterattack on opposition by citing Odisha
Responding to BJP’s allegations, Mamata Banerjee mentioned the neighboring state of Odisha. He said, ‘Girls were raped on the beaches in Odisha. What action did the Odisha government take? He said that the culprits will be given strict punishment. ‘Wherever such incidents happen, they should be condemned. Many cases have also occurred in Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Odisha. We will take strict action.

BJP’s counterattack: ‘Mamata blames the victim’
BJP has called Mamata Banerjee’s statement shameful. Party spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia wrote on X, ‘Shameful @MamataOfficial – who is victim blaming despite being a woman. After RG Kar and Sandeshkhali, now this case… instead of giving justice, the victim is being blamed. BJP said that ‘A Chief Minister who advises girls not to go out at night, but does not ensure security, has no moral right to continue in office.’

What did the victim’s family say?
The second year MBBS student is a resident of Jaleshwar, Odisha. On Friday night, she had gone out with a friend when some people forcibly took her to a deserted area and raped her. The victim’s father said, ‘My daughter is in pain, she is not able to walk. He is on the bed. Now there is no confidence about his safety here. We want to take him back to Odisha. She will study here now. He told that Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi has contacted him and the state government is providing all possible help. He has demanded to get his daughter admitted in the medical college of Odisha.

Three arrested, one in custody
In this case, the police have so far arrested three accused – Apu Bauri (21), Firdous Sheikh (23) and Sheikh Riazuddin (31). The friend present with the victim is also being interrogated. West Bengal Police said on social media, ‘This incident hurts us as much as it hurts Odisha. The culprits will not be spared under any circumstances.
