Where will the new IT hub be built?

Cognizant will create its new big campus in Kapuluppada IT Hills, Visakhapatnam of Andhra Pradesh. This campus will be spread over 22 acres and will be developed in three stages. State Information Technology Minister Nara Lokesh has approved this project and said that with this investment, our goal is to create a global technology destination to Andhra Pradesh and promote digital skilling in small cities.

When will jobs start?

The company said that it will start work from the beginning of 2026, currently with a temporary facility, in which 800 employees will work. At the same time, its permanent campus will be ready in Phase-1 by the beginning of 2029.

Just two months ago, the government here had entered into a similar agreement with India’s largest software company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

Large investment going to cognizant

Cognizant’s headquarters are in Taink of New Jersey. The company has promised an investment of Rs 1,582 crore in the next eight years in the coastal city of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. The company’s plan is to build an IT campus here, which will provide jobs to around 8,000 people. According to the CNBC report, the campus will be located about 600 kilometers from Hyderabad and 800 km from Chennai after Bengaluru. It is expected that Cognizant will start its commercial operation in Visakhapatnam by March 2029.

Visakhapatnam ready to become a new IT hub

After giving 21 acres of land to TCS in April this year, the state’s technology minister Nara Lokesh told CNBC that his goal is to make Visakhapatnam a new hub for IT investment. Let us know that the cabinet of Andhra Pradesh had approved allotting 21.16 acres of land to TCS at a token lease price of 99 paise in Visakhapatnam in April. The company had promised an investment of Rs 1,370 crore to build an IT campus in this land found in IT Hill No. 3. With this, 12,000 people are expected to get jobs.

ESIC and Steel Plant also given land

Apart from this, the cabinet also approved the proposal of Mahamaya Industries Limited to increase the scope of its steel plant in Vijayanagaram. On behalf of the cabinet, ESIC (Employees State Insurance Corporation) was also given 6.35 acres of land in Nadimpalem of Patapadumandal in Guntur district, so that 100 -bed hospital and residential quarters could be made.

Why is the government giving land for 99 paise?

This deal of 99 paise is such a strategy of the government to attract investment on a large scale. This will create new industries, then infrastructure will be better, jobs will increase in the state and the economy will benefit.

Tata consultancy services: The US Equal Employment opportunity commission (EEOC) has launched investigation after dozens of allegations of racial discrimination against India’s largest IT outsource company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). American employees have accused the company of discriminating on the basis of age, race and national origin.

According to Bloomberg’s report, the company has usually made these allegations by professionals over 40 years of age. Many former employees say that the company hired the H-1B visas and many other Indians, while the non-South Asian employees were trimmed.

The company denied the allegations against itself

The number of employees working in TCS worldwide is more than 6,00,000. Reacting to these allegations, the company has said that they have been termed as baseless and misleading.

The company spokesman said, TCS has a strong track record of being an employer providing equal opportunities in the US. The company says that it is not involved in any wrongdoing and is also not violating visa rules.

Here, the investigation of EEOC is going on and complaints have been kept confidential, they have not been publicly disclosed. However, according to Bloomberg News, this investigation of EEOC began during the administration of former President Biden and the current President has continued under Trump. However, this is not the first time that TCS has come under the purview of investigation. Earlier, three former UK employees had made similar allegations of discrimination against the company. Even then the company denied these allegations.

Allegations on Cognizant Technology Solutions

In 2020, IEOC investigated another Indian outsourcing firm Cognizant Technology Solutions Company. There were also allegations of discrimination against non -Indian employees against this company.

Investigations found that the company discriminated against more than 2,000 non-Indian employees between 2013 and 2022. After this, strict action was taken against the company. In January, President Trump appointed Andrea R. Lucas as the executive chairman of EEOC. Now the agency under his leadership has intensified its efforts to overcome discrimination against American workers.
