Amid controversy related to Ram Swaroop Memorial University (SRMU), there has been news of great relief for the university administration and students. The Bar Council of India (BCI) has issued a letter related to recognition to the university, which has been confirmed to increase the approval by 2026.

According to a letter issued by BCI, Shri Ram Swaroop Memorial University, Barabanki’s Institute of Legal Studies has been approved for three -year LLB course and five -year BBA LLB (Honors) Integrated Degree course. Apart from this, five -year -old BA LLB (Honors) Integrated Course has also been allowed.

What is said in the letter?

The letter clearly states that 60-60 students have been allowed to enter each section, while 60-60 students can be admitted in two sections of BA LLB (Honors). This approval will be valid for the upcoming academic session 2025-26.

Earlier, the students raised serious questions about their future on the university administration. The students alleged that due to non -renewal of timely recognition, their degrees are clouded by crisis.

Students had bitten the uproar

Recently, the students had created a ruckus in the university campus about this, after which the police had to lathi -charged. This action had given the dispute even more. Now after this letter of BCI, the worry of students has gone away to a great extent.

The letter also clarified that the university will have to follow the rules of legal education and all the guidelines of BCI. Along with this, within six months, the university will also have to submit a notarized Compliance affidavit.

College administration shared relief news

Sharing this news of relief, the university administration said that the future of the students is safe and no one needs to worry. At the same time, the students say that if this order was issued earlier, then they would not have to face a situation like protest and lathicharge. In this way, this letter, which came amidst controversies, has brought relief for both the university and the students.

Odisha Principal Arrested: The principal of Fakir Mohan Autonomous College has been arrested in the case of a 22 -year -old student on fire by a 22 -year -old student in Balasore district of Odisha. On July 1, the student made serious allegations of sexual harassment on a college professor. He had written a long letter and mentioned the harassment and threats that have been happening for several months.

However, according to the student, the college administration and police did not take any action. 11 days later, he set himself on fire in the college campus itself. The student has been admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where she has burnt more than 90 percent and is struggling for life. After this incident, political disputes, protests of student organizations and demand for accountability in educational institutions have intensified. In view of the seriousness of the case, the administration has now arrested the principal for negligence and ignoring complaints.

Complaint of sexual harassment, still the college administration remained silent
B.Ed of Fakir Mohan Autonomous College in Balasore district of Odisha. On July 1, a student of the student had submitted a written complaint of sexual harassment and threats against his head of department Professor Sameer Kumar Sahu to the college’s internal complaint committee.

The student wrote a long letter, in which she told how her mental and physical harassment has been happening for several months. This letter was also shared by the student on the social stage, in which the Chief Minister of the state, education minister and senior officials were addressed.

Self -immolation after 12 days, condition serious
The college administration had told the student that action will be taken in seven days. But even after the twelve days, when no steps were taken, the student set fire to the main gate of the college on July 11 and sprinkled kerosene on her by spraying kerosene. He is currently on a life -saving system in the hospital in Bhubaneswar. According to doctors, 95 percent of his body has been burnt. Another student who tried to save him has suffered 70 percent burning injuries and is also undergoing treatment.

Principal and accused teacher suspended
After the incident, the police have arrested Professor Sameer Sahu. The Higher Education Department has suspended Professor Sahu as well as the principal of the college Dilip Ghosh. State Higher Education Minister Suryavanshi Suraj said that whoever is found guilty will be taken strict action. District Superintendent of Police Raj Prasad said that the teacher has been arrested. Many parties are gathering evidence and whoever is guilty will be punished.

The student asked for help before the incident
Principal Dilip Ghosh told that on the day of the incident, the student had come to meet him and said that he is under mental pressure. He had requested that teacher Sahu be called, which was called by the principal immediately. A terrible scene of this incident has come out in which the student is seen running in the corridor of the college building in the flames.
A person tries to save him, but when his clothes start burning, he retreats. After this, other people run and try to extinguish the fire.

Family accused of pressurizing
The student’s father said that the college administration had pressurized his daughter and family to withdraw the complaint. He says, “I was told that if the complaint is not removed, a case will be registered against me and I will be arrested.” He said, “I saw my daughter in the hospital. I could not even recognize her.”

Demand to meet president
Regarding this incident, Biju Janata Dal and Congress have written a letter to President Draupadi Murmu seeking time to meet him. The President is on a visit to Odisha these days.

At St. Stephen College, Delhi, 54 students of First Year have been stopped from giving...

At St. Stephen College, Delhi, 54 students of First Year have been stopped from giving exams. In this regard, the college had issued a notice on June 4, stating that there are 54 such students of the first year who did not complete the minimum limit of 66.7% attendance. Because of this, these students were not allowed to sit in the exam which started on June 9. In such a situation, the students have expressed their displeasure. He says that the college management is not ready to hear any of his aspects.

Students said this

Students of Stephens, who were prevented from taking the exam, say that according to the process of the college, such students should meet the principal and at least a chance to clarify their position, but the principal went out of the college for 10 days without giving any information. Meanwhile, examinations started from June 9, in which these students were not allowed to appear in the examination. Students say that there were many reasons behind their absence. These include medical or family emergency, participation in sports or other programs by college or being affected due to recent attacks in Pahalgam.

This charge was made on the principal

The students say that when the principal returned, he refused to meet the students. At the same time, many students along with their parents and parents kept waiting for them all day (from 8 am to 4 pm) at the college gate. Even after this, the meeting could not be met. The students allege that the principal misbehaved with him. At the same time, even threatened to suspend the personal meeting.

College management did not help

Students of the First Year say that during this time a student reached the verge of unconsciousness due to nervousness, but the college management also refused to provide help like wheelchair or ambulance. The student’s guards also threatened the student. Students were not given any chance to give reasons behind their absence. When this matter was put in front of senior teachers, he said that they cannot do anything. The important thing is that more than 100 students were punished last year due to not being present in the assembly, which raised questions on the strictness of the administration.

Students expressed this concern

Many students faced medical or family emergency, yet no relief was given. All the strict rules were implemented on all, no matter what the circumstances have been. In every semester, the criteria of attendance continued and finally declared, so that the students did not get any information in advance.

In the previous years, students were allowed to appear in the examination by giving undertaking, which was not given this time. Earlier, decisions were taken only by taking opinion from the departments. Now that process was terminated.

The principal took all the decisions at his level and remained absent for 10 days. The students allege that the post of Deputy Principal has been vacant for years, administrative work gets interrupted and there is no one to listen to the concerns and complaints of the students.

College administration did not give any answer

No explanation has been given by the college administration on this whole incident. ABP News tried to favor the principal of Stephens College John Varghese, but could not be contacted until the report was written.
