LPG Cylinder rate today on 1st May: In view of the tension in Iran and the uncertain situation created by the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, people were worried about when and how much the prices would change in the coming days. Starting from today, new rates of LPG gas cylinders have been released in the month of May.

Today on May 1, there was no change in the price of 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinder in major cities of India. At the same time, the rate of 19 kg commercial gas cylinder has been increased significantly. From today the price of commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by Rs 993. After this increase, the price of 19 kg cylinder in Delhi will become Rs 3,071.50.

Latest rates of commercial cylinder

After the latest increase in prices by Rs 993, today the rates of 19 kg commercial cylinder are as follows:-

• Delhi- Rs 3,071.50
• Mumbai- Rs 3,024 (estimated)
• Kolkata- Rs 3,201.50 (estimated)

Prices increased for the third consecutive time

Let us tell you that this is the third consecutive time this year, when changes have been made in the rates of commercial cylinders. The first increase of Rs 144 was made on March 7. After this, on April 1, it was again increased by Rs 200 and now a huge increase of Rs 993 has been made.

It is a matter of relief that in the meantime no change has been made in the prices of domestic cylinders so that there is no additional burden on the common families of the country. This year, domestic cylinder prices were increased by Rs 60 only once in March.

India’s dependence on energy imports

India imports about 60 percent of its LPG requirements. Before the US and Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28 and Tehran’s retaliation, more than half of India’s crude oil, about 30 percent of gas and 85-90 percent of LPG were imported from West Asian countries like Saudi Arabia and UAE.

However, currently oil marketing companies (OMCs) are under pressure due to the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz due to tensions in the Middle East. Provided that in the meantime, India has compensated to some extent for the disruptions in the supply of crude oil by importing oil from countries like Russia. On the other hand, the supply of gas has been cut for industrial users and the availability of LPG for commercial establishments like hotels and restaurants has also been reduced.
