In view of the ongoing crisis in Iran, the central government has formed a three-member group of ministers to closely monitor the situation and deal with the possible impacts. This high level committee will be headed by Home Minister Amit Shah. However, the government says that right now no significant impact is being seen on the country. The government is leaving no stone unturned and already seems to be in a preparation mood.

Who is included in the committee?

Apart from Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, this group of ministers also includes External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri are also included. While the Foreign Ministry will review the situation at the diplomatic level, the Petroleum Ministry will analyze the impact on the global oil and gas supply chain. Especially to deal with the possible shortage or supply disruption of LPG, alternative sources and supply management are also being considered.

However, there is a shortage of LPG cylinders in many areas and people are facing difficulties due to this shortage. The government has indicated that advance preparations are being made to ensure that domestic consumers do not face any inconvenience. Oil companies have been instructed to maintain adequate storage and keep the distribution system smooth. This Group of Ministers will continuously review the situation in collaboration with other concerned ministries, so that the crisis has minimal impact on the energy security of the country and the needs of the common people.

Indian ships will pass through Hormuz Strait

Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar spoke to Iranian Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araghchi over phone, after which Iran gave permission to Indian ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. These two ships are transiting between Wednesday night and Thursday morning. This is a big relief amid the increasing oil shortage in India because since the start of the war, most of the ships are stuck there and the traffic has almost stopped. With the release of these two ships, the oil shortage in India will end to some extent.
