According to the information, two cases of consumption of alcohol while on duty had been registered against Captain Sumit Kapoor. The first incident was in the year 2010 and when he was found alcohol test positive in the medical examination. After this serious negligence, the concerned airline removed him from service.

After this, in the year 2017, he was once again caught consuming alcohol while on duty. Considering this second incident to be extremely serious for aviation safety, the Civil Aviation Authority suspended him for three years.

Apart from this, later he was completely expelled from the service. After being removed from service, Captain Sumit Kapoor worked as a freelance pilot for some time.
