A three -and -a -half -year -old girl is reported to have died from Kornavirus in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It is being told that the girl had a complaint of dehydration, after which she was admitted to Delhi’s uncle Nehru Hospital. During the investigation, the girl was found to be Kovid-19 positive. In such a situation, the question is arising whether the new variant of Kovid-19 is dangerous for children? Let’s know about this in detail …

How many cases of Corona are there in Noida?

In Gautam Budh Nagar i.e. Noida, the cases of Kovid-19 are increasing rapidly. On 5 June 2025, 20 new cases were registered in the district, after which the total active case here increased to 158. Let us know that in other parts of the country, cases of Corona are increasing very fast. The reason for this is said to be the sub-variants of Omikron such as JN.1, LF.7, and NB.1.8.1. The death of this Noida girl has been recorded as the first death related to Kovid-19.

What is NB.1.8.1 variants?

According to the WHO, NB.1.8.1 is the new sub-variant of Kovid-19, who is a descendant of JN.1 variant and is also related to Omikron variants. This variant was discovered by the Covid-19 genome sequencing consortium of India in Tamil Nadu for the first time during January 2025. WHO has categorized it as a variant under monitoring (vum). NB.1.8.1 has extra spike mutations T22N, F59S, G184S, A435S, V445H, and T478i, which makes it more contagious than Omikron sub-variants. Experts say that NB.1.8.1 sub-variants are less likely to cause serious illness, but the death of the girl in Noida has challenged the notion that Kovid-19 is completely safe for children.

Kovid-19 influence on children

At the beginning of the Kovid-19 epidemic during 2020, it was believed that children are less affected by viruses. This is the reason that most of the cases of mild or without symptoms are seen in them. However, after the arrival of variants like Delta and Omikron, the children were also infected with Corona. Especially such children were found to be covid positive, who could not be installed vaccine. By 2022, it was observed in global data that cases of Sars-Cov-2 are increasing in children. Such cases were seen more in those areas where the rate of vaccination was found low.

Noida’s death, she was three and a half years old and was hospitalized due to dehydration. She was found to be Covid-19 positive during the investigation. In such a situation, it is feared that the Korona virus made its health more serious.

Is it fatal for children NB.1.8.1?

According to Dr. Yavon Maldonado, an infectiologist at Stanford University, NB.1.8.1 is more contagious, but it does not cause serious illness. However, in some cases such as young children or already present serious ill children may increase this problem. It is worth noting that during the last one year in America, 150 children have died from Kovid-19, which is almost equal to the deaths of 231 children from Influenza. This shows that Kovid-19 is not completely harmless for children. If the child’s immunity is weak or has serious diseases, then the problem may increase.

In many countries of the world, cases of Corona virus are constantly being found. In India too, people suffering from new variants of this virus are constantly coming out. Till June 2, 3758 active cases have been received in India. At the same time, 32 people have lost their lives. These include a 22 -year -old girl. Let us know who is dying of the Kovid-19 virus? Are there the causes of diseases already in the body behind it?

Who is more in danger of death from Kovid-19?

According to recent reports by new research and WHO, some people are more in danger of death from Kovid-19. Actually, people above 60 years of age are especially included. During 2020, research was done on 44,000 cases of China. It was revealed that the mortality in people above 80 years of age was 10 times more than the middle age group. The new research also found that new variants such as JN.1 and NB.1.8.1 can also have a more serious impact in the elderly.

How dangerous diseases already existing?

According to the WHO, the risk of death from Kovid-19 increases manifold due to already existing health problems. According to ICMR guidelines, if blood sugar is uncontrolled in diabetes patients, the body’s immunity becomes weak against Kovid-19. Actually, this increases inflammation caused by the virus and damages other organs including lungs. At the same time, heart diseases such as high blood pressure, coronary artery disease or or heart failure increase the problems caused by Kovid-19. Explain that this virus puts pressure on the heart muscle, which increases the risk of heart attack or stroke.

These diseases also have problems

People suffering from diseases like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma or TB have less capacity of lungs. If such people are in the grip of Kovid-19, then the risk of death increases. At the same time, Kovid-19 can be serious in patients dependent on chronic kidney disease or dialysis, as it affects the functionality of the kidney more. Cancer patients, especially people taking chemotherapy, weaken the immune system, which reduces the ability to fight the corona virus.

These people are more in danger

A research has revealed that the risk of death from Kovid-19 in men is higher than that of women. The reason for this may be hormonal difference and smoking habit in men. According to WHO’s 2020 research, the mortality in men got 1.5 times higher than women.

Is the real cause of death already existing?

According to a 2024 report by ICMR, more than 80% of deaths from Kovid-19 occurred in those who had already one or more serious illnesses. Actually, the corona virus becomes more dangerous due to these diseases. Explain that diabetes, heart disease and obesity increase chronic inflammation in the body, which makes the cytokine store (excessive inflammation) caused by Kovid-19. At the same time, Kovid-19 mainly affects the lungs. If someone already has lung diseases, then their ability to breathe is affected. In addition, the weak immune system is unable to prevent corona virus, which increases the risk of pneumonia, Ards and multi-organ failure.

Infection of new variants of Kovid-19 is continuously spreading in many countries of the world including India. In fact, due to the new variants of Kovid-19 JN.1 and its sub-workers such as LF.7 and NB.1.8, the cases of Kovid-19 have increased rapidly in Asia, especially in Singapore and Hong Kong. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (Mohfw), 257 active cases have been registered in India as of May 19, 2025, which are the highest in the last one year. Let’s know how symptoms are seen in the new variant of Corona and how dangerous can it be to ignore them?

How dangerous is JN.1 variant of Corona?

JN.1 variant is the sub-work of Omikron Ba.2.86. This first came to light in August 2023. According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, this variant has one or two extra mutations, making it more infectious than other variants.
