Australia Study Scholarship: After 12th, every Indian student dreams of going abroad to complete his studies. That too, especially in a country like Australia, where universities are famous all over the world for their excellent education and research. This is the reason why millions of students dream of going to Australia to study. However, studying in Australia is not considered cheap, because fees of lakhs of rupees may have to be paid for studying here.

In such a situation, Australia has come up with a special offer to fulfill the dreams of foreign students. Under this, they are going to get a chance to study for free. Not only this, but the student will also be provided with accommodation and will also get an air ticket to come to Australia.

Along with the fees, the cost of living is also huge.

While studying in Australia, not only tuition fees but also a lot of money is spent on accommodation and daily needs. In such a situation, Australia has started applications for the 2027 round of its ‘Australia Awards Scholarship’. Under this, students from developing countries get fully-funded scholarships. The Australian Government has said that the students receiving the scholarship will get the opportunity to study Bachelors and Masters in all the universities which are part of this award. Also, this scholarship is being funded by the Australian Government itself and its objective is to prepare future leaders with the necessary skills and leadership qualities, who can go to their country and contribute to the development there.

Also read: ‘Dharmendra Pradhan has been exposed, remain in power…’, Congress angry over CBSE’s OSM system

What will you get under scholarship?

Australia Awards Scholarships are considered competitive and prestigious, for which a large number of students apply. Under this, tuition fees will be waived, because the government itself is bearing the entire cost of education. The student will also get a round trip air ticket. Under the scholarship, the student will be given a lump sum amount for accommodation, books and study materials. Besides, the overseas student health cover of the student during his studies will also be covered by the scholarship. Stipend will also be given for daily expenses.

What are the necessary conditions to get scholarship?

This scholarship is available only to those countries which are part of the award. Let us tell you, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has released the list of these countries. To receive the scholarship, the student must demonstrate leadership qualities and commitment to his or her community. They will also have to prove that they will be able to make a significant contribution to their study community.

The candidate has to show leadership abilities, responsibility towards society and willingness to contribute to the development of his/her country. Apart from this, the selected students are also required to return to their country for at least two years after completion of their studies. Its purpose is that the student’s country can also benefit from the skills he has learned during the course.

Till a few years ago, studying abroad was considered the biggest dream of millions of Indian students. Families saved to send their children abroad, agents’ offices were crowded and thousands of students flew to Australia, Canada, Britain and America every year. But now the picture is slowly changing. Expensive fees, rising expenses and difficult visa rules have stopped the steps of many students.

The recent IDP report “Emerging Futures” has presented a big picture of this changing thinking. The report shows that now Indian students are not just dreaming of going abroad, but are taking decisions very thoughtfully.

43% students left their dream due to fees

According to the report, 43 percent of Indian students who abandoned their plans to study abroad said that the fees are now out of their reach. At the same time, 32 percent students cited rising expenses and food expenses as major reasons. Apart from this, 28 percent students believed that getting a student visa has become more difficult than before. The same concern was visible not only in India but also among students all over the world. About 50 percent of the students said that tuition fees have increased so much that studying abroad is no longer easy.

Now I don’t just want a degree, I want a career.

The report shows that the thinking of Indian students has changed a lot. Now they are not just running after a foreign degree, but are also seeing whether they will get a job after completing their studies or not.

About 41 percent of Indian students said that the biggest advantage of studying abroad is good career and job opportunities. Whereas 31 percent students said that better education and good education system is necessary. 27 percent students want such courses which are directly related to industry and job.

Business and engineering most preferred

The report also revealed that the first choice of students going abroad is still business related courses. About 24 percent students chose business and administration studies. After this, engineering and technology came second, which were liked by 20 percent of the students. Health and medicine were chosen by 18 percent students, while good interest of students was also seen in courses related to computer and mathematics.

Also read – Tension of students increased after CBSE results, more than 4 lakh students asked for scanned copy of their copies.

Trust in big and renowned universities

Today’s students are giving more importance to brand and ranking rather than taking admission in any college. About 65 percent of the students said that they want to study in world-ranked universities. Fewer students showed interest in polytechnics, community colleges or smaller institutions. This clearly means that students are now linking the university’s identity with their career along with the degree.

Which country is trusted the most?

Britain emerged as the most trusted country for students to study abroad. About 85 percent of the students believed that UK can prepare them for better skills and career. This was followed by Canada and Australia, where students’ confidence was 84 and 83 percent. America and New Zealand were also included in the choice of students. However, students’ confidence in some new countries was less. Student confidence remained very low in countries like Germany, China and France. UAE remained at the bottom, where only 47 percent students expressed confidence.

Why did Australia become the first choice?

Australia is being liked the most among Indian students. According to the report, 41 percent students said Australia as their first choice. The biggest reason for this is the job opportunities there, the study environment and the international education system. Whereas UK was liked for good studies and strong education system. Students are also choosing Canada and America because of better job and networking opportunities. New Zealand is being preferred for work permit and good job options after studies.

Study Abroad After 12th: There is a lot of craze among Indian students to study in foreign universities and after 12th, many students also dream of going abroad to study. Every year lakhs of students of the country go to US, UK, Canada, Australia to complete their studies. But there are many students whose dream remains unfulfilled due to lack of proper information and their desire to study abroad is not fulfilled. However, now you do not need to worry, because, in today’s time, there are many such
There are countries where it has become very easy for Indian students to get admission and visa. With proper planning and information, you can study abroad at low cost.

Exams and options required for admission

If you are an Indian and you want to study abroad, then for that you have to pass some tests. Exams like GRE, GMAT, SAT, MCAT and LSAT. Only after passing these tests you get admission in good universities abroad. At the same time, there are many countries which provide admission in simple undergraduate courses in universities after 12th. Countries like Canada, Australia, Germany and New Zealand are very popular among Indian students. The special thing is that in many public universities in countries like Germany, the tuition fees for bachelor’s and master’s studies are very low or non-existent, whereas in Canada and Australia, the facility of working part-time along with studies is also available.

Also read: Beware of fake news…Big claim regarding NEET UG 2026 paper leak! NTA issued strict warning

Student Visa Process and Required Documents

Talking about the visa process, every country has its own rules. Getting a student visa for studying outside India is a systematic process, which mainly depends on the university and country you choose. Also, this process starts only after receiving the admission offer letter from the university. But if you have the offer letter, payment of tuition fees, correct documents and financial proof, then there is not much problem in getting the visa. Generally, for student visa, you also have to provide scorecard of IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE English test. Visa fees vary by country and the process can take from a few weeks to a few months.

Cost of studying abroad and budget planning

Now talking about expenditure, it varies according to the country and city. In Canada and Australia, the annual expenditure can be around Rs 15 to 25 lakh, whereas in Germany this expenditure becomes much less. You have to make a separate budget every month for accommodation, food and other expenses. If you choose the right country and course, studying abroad can prove to be not only easy but also a big opportunity for your career.

The rupee is continuously weakening and now one dollar has reached around Rs 90. This decline has increased the concerns of Indian students and their families studying abroad. The cost of education abroad was already quite high, but the weakness of the rupee has pushed these expenses further higher.

In the last eight-nine months, the rupee slipped from around Rs 84 per dollar to Rs 90. This decline has had a direct impact on the pockets of those students who are studying in America, Britain, Canada, Australia and European countries. There college fees, accommodation, rent, travel expenses and insurance, everything has to be paid in dollars, pounds, euros or other foreign currencies. These expenses automatically increase due to the weakness of the rupee.

The number of students going abroad is still large

According to Bureau of Immigration data, 7.6 lakh Indian students went abroad for higher education in 2024. This number is less than 8.9 lakh in 2023, but still shows that the demand from Indian families to study abroad remains strong. Five years ago, i.e. in 2020, this number was only 2.6 lakh. It will reach 4.5 lakh in 2021, 7.5 lakh in 2022 and around 9 lakh in 2023.

Students’ expenses suddenly increased

According to media reports, every new semester has become a new challenge for the students who are already studying. Many students say that the monthly expenses have increased by Rs 20-30 thousand. The total annual expenditure has to be paid an additional Rs 2-3 lakh. Food, rent and travel expenses have increased the most. Fees in dollars and pounds automatically become expensive as the rupee falls.

Some students get support from part-time jobs

Many students describe the first six months as the most difficult. They have to adapt to the new environment and expenses also keep increasing. Many families say that along with studies, children also do part-time jobs so that they can manage some part of the expenses themselves.

Pressure on family budget too

Families in India count every rupee and send money for their child’s education. Household expenses, loan installments, and children’s foreign education put together have created a huge financial burden. A young man wrote on social media that the annual fee of $50,000, which was earlier Rs 41.5 lakh, has now become around Rs 44.7 lakh. Due to the fall of rupee alone, there is an additional burden of Rs 3 lakh annually.

Some students are thinking of changing country

Many students say that if the rupee continues to fall, they may consider other countries for their studies where the cost is lower. A student who is preparing to do her master’s in America said that now we have to decide what we can afford. Our destination may have to be changed.

Visa and processing fees also expensive

Immigration consultants have reported that visa fees and other processing charges have also increased by about 4%. The average fees of American colleges is also increasing by Rs 2-3 lakh every year.
