Due to the ongoing conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Pakistan is now facing huge losses. Its economic condition has worsened and record breaking inflation is occurring in the markets. In such a situation, people have to pay excessive amounts of money even to buy daily essentials, due to which the general public is quite upset.

Actually, the borders between Pakistan and Afghanistan have been closed. Due to this, due to stoppage of import and export of goods, there has been a shortage of essential goods in the market, due to which the price of tomatoes in Pakistan is skyrocketing. In such a situation, let us know how much the prices of tomatoes have increased in Pakistan due to this border closure and what else apart from tomatoes, Pakistan buys from Kabul.

How much have tomato prices increased?

Since the closure of the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan from October 11, there has been a shortage of many essential items in Pakistan. During this period, tomatoes coming from Afghanistan are one of the biggest needs of Pakistan. Therefore now its price has doubled in the Pakistani market. According to traders and market reports of Pakistan, the price of tomato in the market has increased by 400 percent to Rs 600 per kg. At many places these prices have even crossed Rs 700 per kg. Along with this, due to closure of the border, there is a severe shortage of many things including apples, tomatoes and grapes in many big cities of Pakistan.

What does Pakistan buy from Kabul?

Apart from tomatoes, Pakistan buys many other essential items from Afghanistan. These include many things including cotton, edible vegetables and fruits, nuts, coffee, tea, mineral fuels, grains, oil seeds, cereals, rubber, tobacco. In this, cotton is exported the most. Afghanistan had exported cotton worth $138.85 million to Pakistan in the year 2023. Coal is exported from Afghanistan at second place and bituminous at third place is exported to Pakistan. In the year 2023, Afghanistan had exported a total of coal and bituminous worth $220.01 million to Pakistan. If we talk about agricultural products, fresh grapes and tomatoes are exported in the largest quantity.

Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has targeted the Modi government on the issue of farmers. On Thursday (August 28), the CM claimed that the Modi government has removed the duty on the cotton (cotton) India from America. Earlier there was 11 percent duty.

Kejriwal said, “America put tariffs on us, we should have put 50 % tariff on cotton. But we did not do this. ”

He said in the press conference, “This is a deception of the farmers. When our farmers’ cotton will come to the market in October, then they will have to sell at a quarter to one price. Farmers of Gujarat, Punjab, Vidarbha, Telangana will be affected. ”

Trump is a coward man- Arvind Kejriwal

Arvind Kejriwal said, “If Trump put 145 percent tariff on China, China also imposed 125 percent tariff, Trump had to bow down. Mexico, Canada, European Union everywhere governments responded to Trump. Trump is a cowardly man who stood against Trump, Trump had to bow down in front of him. Modi ji remains a wet cat in front of Trump. Don’t know what are the compulsions. ”

He said, “Today our country is killing from side. On one side, Trump has imposed 50 percent tariff. Due to this our domestic industry is on the verge of closure. Because our export (export) stopped. On the other hand, PM Modi ended the tariff on the goods that came from America. America’s goods will be sold here. We should have put double tariffs. ”

The former Chief Minister said, “If Trump put 50 % tariff, we should put 100 percent tariff. Our population is so much that no one can tolerate our displeasure. Modi ji, why do you bow down? This is an issue of honor of India. You show courage, we are with you. ”

Ministry of Finance

The Finance Ministry said on Thursday (August 28), “To give more support to exporters, the Central Government has decided to extend the import duty exemption on cotton (HS5201) from 30 September 2025 to 31 December 2025.”

America’s decision applicable

US President Donald Trump’s decision to double the tariff on Indian goods to 50 percent came into force from Wednesday (August 27).
