In many countries of Asia, JN.1, the new variant of Korona, has knocked. Many cases have been reported in India too, but do you know how many variants of Kovid have been revealed so far? How dangerous is JN.1 variant? Let’s know everything about it.

When did Corona first come in the world?

The Kovid-19 epidemic started in December 2019 from the city of Wuhan, China. Sars-Cov-2 virus has changed its form many times so far. In fact, the process of mutation of this virus gave birth to many new variants, some of which had a serious impact on global health. The World Health Organization (WHO) and other health organizations have categorized these variants in the variant of Consign (VOCS) and Variants of Interest (VOIS), so that they can be monitored and investigated prominently. Among them, JN.1 variant is currently spreading in many countries. Let us know how dangerous this variant of Kovid is?

How many variants of Kovid-19 have come out so far?

The Sars-Cov-2 virus continues to be muted over time. Most of the mutated viruses are the same, but some changes can make it more infected, severe and resistant to vaccine. The WHO and Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have identified hundreds of variants since January 2020. However, only a few of these variants have been considered important for global health.

So far these variants have come to the fore

WHO has so far named many variants of Consign (VOCS). The first of these Alpha (b.1.1.7) was found in the United Kingdom in September 2020. It was 50–70% more contagious. Beta (B.1.351) was identified in South Africa during December 2020. It was able to partially dodge the vaccine and natural immunity. Gamma P.1 variant was found in Brazil during January 2021, which had the ability to avoid immunity. Delta B.1.617.2 was identified in India during April 2021, which caused highly contagious and serious illness.

These variants were also identified

Omikron B.1.1.529 variant was identified in South Africa during November 2021. This variant proved to be the most dangerous due to its excessive infection and many sub-works. After Omikron, many sub-workers came out, including BA.1, BA.2, Ba.5, XBB, and recently JN.1. By September 2024, WHO had catarized Ba.2.86 and JN.1 as Varient of Interest (VOI). At the same time, jn.1.7, kp.2, kp.3, kp.3.1.1, jn.1.18, LB.1, and XEC were listed as Varients Under Monitoring (VUMS).

What a dangerous variant is JN.1?

The biggest feature of JN.1 variant is its high controversy. It spreads faster than Ba.2.86, as it has extra mutations, which help it enter cells and dodge immunity. JN.1 does not cause more serious illness than other Omikron sub-practitions. Its symptoms are similar to normal Kovid-19 symptoms such as fever, cough, fatigue, loss of taste or odor and difficulty in breathing.
