In fact, scientists have found small clots and immune system-related changes in the blood of long Covid patients, which can cause this long-term condition and can also open the way for future treatment. This is because most people recover completely from Covid-19 infection after a few days of cold, sore throat, cough or fever. But there are many patients who suffer from problems like fatigue, brain fog, body ache and breathlessness for a long time. This is called Long Covid. What came out in the research?

Now scientists have identified two important changes in long Covid patients, microclots present in the blood and changes in the immune cells neutrophils. Microclots are unusual clusters of clotting proteins circulating in the blood, which were first seen in samples from Covid patients.

Research also found that in long Covid patients, white blood cells called neutrophils undergo a special change. This change helps them to expel their DNA and move them forward to form thread-like structures. These are called neutrophil extracellular traps, which help detect and destroy infection.

What do experts say?

Scientists believe that in some Covid patients, this interaction between microclots and NETs starts a series of reactions in the body, which can ultimately lead to Long Covid. Microclots are thought to encourage NETs to form excessively, which increases inflammation and blood clot-related problems and prolongs Covid-like symptoms.

In structural examination of plasma of long Covid patients, the amount of microclots and NETs was found to be much higher than that of healthy people. The study also revealed that the patients’ microclots were larger in size.

According to study author Alain Thierry, “This discovery suggests that some physical processes are going on between microclots and NETs, ​​which can go out of control and cause disease.”

Researcher Risia Pretorius said that this interaction could protect microclots from the body’s natural clot breaking process, causing them to remain in the blood for a long time and cause problems related to blood vessels.

In a study published in the Journal of Medical Virology, scientists said that excessive formation of NETs makes microclots more stable, which may contribute to the symptoms of Long Covid. The research team says that this discovery is going to provide an opportunity to understand Long Covid.

Covid Patient Symptoms: The cases of Corona virus have started increasing once again in the country. According to the Ministry of Health, the number of active cases in the country has exceeded 1200. The condition of both patients is currently stable. He was admitted to the hospital after high fever and shortness of breathing four days ago.

What did the patient’s family say?

Anuj Dwivedi, son of a patient admitted to RML Hospital, said that his mother had an infection in the first kidney. After this, suddenly there was trouble in breathing and health deteriorated.

Anuj said, “At first we took him to a private hospital, but when the condition deteriorated, he was referred to RML Hospital. There were first 4 patients in Kovid ward, now there are only two. My mother’s report has been continuously positive for the last three days, so he is still admitted. However, he is still well.

She told that her mother had taken both the vaccines of Kovid and she did not get infected in both the previous waves.

What did Nodal Officer Dr. Pawan Kumar say?

Dr. Pawan Kumar, the nodal officer of Kovid Ward at RML Hospital, said that both the patients are stable and there is no need to panic.

He said, “The situation is not serious at the moment but caution is necessary. People should avoid congestion and mask must be applied.”

According to Dr. Pawan, Kovid’s new variant is not more dangerous than before. Its symptoms are usually cough and fever. How fast it is spreading, nothing can be said to be clear yet.

ICU is not required

He said that this time patients are not needing oxygen, ventilator or ICU as compared to the first and second wave.

Regarding the preparations for the hospital, he told that the oxygen plant is already present, the number of staff and beds is sufficient. If needed, the number of beds can be increased from 100 to 400 in a day.

A separate isolation center has been created for Kovid. At present, 9 beds have been kept for Kovid patients in the hospital. All necessary equipment and manpower are also present. The duty of doctors is now being imposed in Kovid ward as well as other wards.

Although the cases of Corona have started growing again, the situation is under control. The government and hospital administration are completely cautious. People are being appealed to take precautions, wear masks and avoid congestion.
