At some places there are big road shows of leaders and at other places convoys of vehicles worth crores are being seen, but amidst all this, a candidate is attracting everyone’s attention, who has neither wealth nor influence. The name is Qayamuddin Ansari, CPI-ML (CPI-ML) candidate of Grand Alliance from Arrah Assembly seat. He is also being called the ‘poorest candidate’ of Bihar Assembly elections 2025.

Simplicity became the center of discussion
50 year old Qayamuddin Ansari has done MA in Urdu from MHD Jain College, Arrah. He is Ansari (weaver) by caste, that is, he comes from the extremely backward class. He has contested elections from Arrah twice before. In the year 2020, he lost to BJP’s Amarendra Pratap Singh by only 3,002 votes, but his struggle and simplicity was in the news in that election.

no land, no business
This time too Qayamuddin is in the fray, but the situation is more difficult. He neither has any property nor any business. His wife Khushbu is an Anganwadi worker and this is the only regular income of their family. He has stated his income in the affidavit. He has only Rs 20 thousand in cash and Rs 5 thousand in his bank account. They live in a small house.

Donation from public, campaign on bicycle
Qayamuddin was asked how to campaign when there is no money? So he clearly said – public trust. They are going from village to village and collecting small donations from people. Some give Rs 50, some give Rs 100. With this money they get posters printed and are meeting people from door to door sitting on a bicycle.

‘People’s candidate’ among big names
There are veteran candidates like BJP’s Sanjay Singh Tiger and Jan Suraj’s Dr. Vijay Kumar Gupta in front of him on Arrah seat, but Qayamuddin’s honesty and simplicity has made a place in the hearts of the people.

A big political development has come to light amid Bihar Assembly elections. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate from Sasaram seat, Satyendra Sah, was arrested soon after filing his nomination on Monday (October 20). Jharkhand Police has made this arrest in connection with an old criminal case.

According to the information, as soon as Satyendra Sah reached the Circle Officer (CO) office and completed the enrollment process, a team of Jharkhand Police reached there and served the pending non-bailable warrant (NBW) against him. RJD supporters were completely surprised by this action. As the news of the arrest spread, political activity increased in the area.

Bank robbery accused Satyendra Sah arrested

According to Jharkhand Police, Satyendra Sah is an accused in the bank robbery that took place at Chironjiya turn in Garhwa district in 2004. Garhwa Sadar police station in-charge Sunil Tiwari said that a permanent warrant was issued against him in this case in 2018. According to police records, more than 20 cases related to robbery, dacoity and violation of Arms Act are registered against him in various police stations.

Elections to be held in two phases in Bihar

Elections for the 243-member Bihar Assembly are to be held in two phases – the first phase on November 6 and the second phase on November 11, while the counting of votes will take place on November 14. In the election environment, the arrest of a candidate on the day of nomination has increased the political temperature.

This case is the third case of arrest of candidates of ‘India’ alliance. Earlier, two candidates of CPI(ML) Liberation, Jitendra Paswan from Bhore and Satyadev Ram from Darauli were also arrested soon after nomination.

Alleged conspiracy to influence the electoral process

The opposition has targeted the ruling coalition regarding these continuous arrests. CPI (ML) Liberation said in its statement that we strongly condemn the politically motivated arrests of Comrade Jitendra Paswan and Comrade Satyadev Ram. He was arrested on false charges outside the nomination centre, which shows that NDA leaders are afraid of the growing public anger and demand for change.

Both RJD and CPI (ML) parties have called it a conspiracy to influence the electoral process, while the administration says that the action has been taken completely as per the legal process. At present, the arrest of Satyendra Sah has brought Sasaram seat into the limelight of Bihar elections.

Regarding Bihar assembly elections, National General Secretary of CPI (ML), an important party associated with the leftist camp, Dipankar Bhattacharya has given a big statement on seat sharing and unity of the alliance. He admitted that this time the alliance is bigger than before, due to which delay in seat coordination and some disagreements were natural.

Dipankar Bhattacharya said that this time there was a desire to include Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) in the alliance. Due to this, all the parties had to sacrifice some of their seats. He told that due to this process there was some delay in ticket distribution and complete unity could not be achieved immediately on some seats.

There should be complete unity in every assembly constituency

Dipankar Bhattacharya also clarified that it has been decided by the alliance that there will be no ‘friendly fight’ on any seat. He said that we have made it clear that there should be complete unity in every assembly constituency. Wherever there is some confusion, that too will be resolved by the last date of withdrawal of nominations.

Left parties performed their responsibilities with full honesty

The CPI(ML) leader claimed that the Left parties have played their part honestly and have given top priority to strengthening the alliance. He said that our aim is not to win or lose on any one seat, but to stop the fascist forces in entire Bihar and strengthen the voice of the people.

Dipankar Bhattacharya also said that even though seat distribution may have taken time, the unity of the India alliance will be even stronger at the time of elections. He expressed hope that by the time the process of withdrawal of nominations is completed, the alliance’s common candidate on every seat will become clear and opposition unity will emerge in a stronger form than before.

Our goal is not power, but change – Bhattacharya

Dipankar Bhattacharya finally said that our goal is not power but change. The expectations of the people in Bihar are high and we will unite and try to live up to them.

Political analysts believe that this statement of CPI(ML) is not only an attempt to calm the dissatisfaction related to seat sharing, but also gives a message that the Left parties still want to maintain balance and cooperation within the alliance.
