Cricket is generally called a “gentleman’s game”, where the bat swings, the ball flies and the spectators cheer the players with applause. But a video going viral on social media has completely turned this thinking upside down. The video is said to be from a local cricket league of Bangladesh, where not on the field but the spectators sitting in the stands clashed with each other. The game that started for entertainment soon became a battlefield.

Cricket stadium became a battlefield

It can be clearly seen in the viral video that during a cricket match, a debate suddenly starts among the spectators over some issue. At first there is an altercation, but within a few seconds the atmosphere becomes so heated that people attack each other. Someone is punching, someone is kicking, and someone is holding the clothes of the person in front and makes him fall on the ground. Some people are also seen slapping. The view of the stadium becomes like that of a wrestling arena or a street fight.

In the video, many people are seen trying to stop the fighting, but the angry people are not ready to listen to anyone. Amidst the chaos, many spectators are seen leaving their seats and running here and there. It seems as if the match has been left behind somewhere and the real fight for the spectators has started in the stands itself.

As soon as this video went viral on social media, there was a flood of reactions from users. Many people sarcastically wrote, “This is not a cricket match, it looks like a free fight league”, while some said that “Players are playing in the field and spectators are in the stands”. Many users called it an open insult to the spirit of the game and raised the question as to how people become so violent over such a small thing. Some jokingly wrote that “The ticket was for cricket, but got the entertainment one for WWE”.
