Former Indian cricketer Laxman Sivaramakrishnan has shocked the cricket world by making big revelations. At one time he was one of the emerging leg spin bowlers of India, but in his youth he found himself surrounded by controversies. Words like alcohol consumption and casteism had surrounded him in controversies. Now he has admitted to going into depression.

Laxman Shivaramakrishnan made his debut for the Indian cricket team at the age of just 17. He told that his image had been tarnished due to continuous allegations. The situation had become so bad that despite being an international cricketer, it became difficult to even find a partner for marriage.

According to The Indian Express, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan told that people had started spreading wrong things about him. He told that when he was 16-19 years old, people had tagged his name as ‘drunkard’, even though he was not even an adult at that time.

He said, “I have never consumed drugs in my life. Later in life, I have definitely consumed beer, I do not refuse that. But imagine calling a 19-year-old boy an alcoholic.”

No one is ready to marry his daughter

Describing those memories, Shivaramakrishnan said that his parents even had to get an advertisement printed for his marriage. When he opened the post box after 2 weeks, there was not a single application in it.

The veteran cricketer said, “This meant that my image among the people had become so bad that no one wanted to get their daughter married to me.”

Sivaramakrishnan’s career

Laxman Sivaramakrishnan took 26 wickets in 9 test matches for the Indian cricket team. Apart from this, he also played 16 ODI matches for Team India, in which he took 15 wickets. In his first-class career of 76 matches, he took 154 wickets.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been facing serious allegations of apartheid. The person making the allegations is none other than former Indian cricketer Laxman Sivaramakrishnan. On Friday, Sivaramakrishnan announced his retirement from the BCCI commentary panel. Laxman Sivaramakrishnan told through social media that he is retiring from the commentary panel of BCCI. He wrote allegingly, “I have not been given a chance during toss and presentation in 23 years and today’s new boys are doing toss report and pitch report.”

Actually, in his statement he did not directly accuse BCCI. But a person commented on his post and wrote that perhaps this could be because of your colour. Controversy arose when the former cricketer agreed to it. He also admitted that perhaps BCCI did not give him opportunities like toss presentation or pitch report because of apartheid.

Former cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin also reacted. Expressing regret, he said that Laxman Shivaramakrishnan will not be seen commentating in the IPL this time. In the comment section, some people came in support of Shivaramakrishnan, but some people started trolling him.

Talking about career, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan used to be a leg spin bowler. He took 26 wickets while representing the Indian team in 9 test matches. Apart from this, he has 15 wickets in his name in 16 ODI matches. He played for Team India from 1983-1987.
