Ban on Condom and Dating Apps: The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has written a letter to ICC Chairman Jay Shah objecting to adult category advertisements during the telecast of international cricket matches. CTE Chairman Brijesh Goyal, in the letter, has demanded a complete ban on telecast of condom, dating apps and other adult category advertisements during family viewing time.

In its letter, CTI has mentioned the second T20 International match between India and England played on 4 July 2026 at Old Trafford, Manchester, England. According to the organization, an advertisement for Durex condoms was aired between the overs of the match, while crores of people were watching the live match with their families.

Situation is uncomfortable for parents – CTI

CTI claims that about 44 crore people in the country watch cricket, which also includes children below 16 years of age. In such a situation, such advertisements create an uncomfortable situation for the viewers watching the match with their families, especially children and their parents.

In the letter, CTI Chairman Brijesh Goyal has said that cricket is not just a game in India but is a subject related to the emotions of the people. He also mentioned his personal experience in the letter, saying that his 13-year-old son was also watching the match with him and while the condom advertisement was being aired, he asked questions related to it, which created an uncomfortable situation for him. The organization says that many families across the country would have to face such a situation.

How many times can mistakes be corrected after filing ITR? Understand the rules, no penalty will be imposed

CTI has demanded from ICC to issue clear guidelines to ban the telecast of condom, dating app and other adult category advertisements during all international cricket matches telecasted in the family viewing time of 7 pm to 11 pm. Along with this, a demand has also been made from all the member boards of BCCI and ICC to make ‘Family Viewing Code’ mandatory in the contracts with broadcast partners.

If adult ads are shown after the ban, take action – CTI

The organization has also demanded that if such advertisements are aired in future, action should be taken against the concerned broadcaster and cricket board. The letter states that when there is a ban on liquor and tobacco advertisements in the country, then why are adult category advertisements being allowed to be aired between overs.

Vehicle owners angry on E20 petrol, in the survey people called it ‘disastrous’, said – decline in mileage

CTI has requested ICC Chairman Jay Shah to take up this issue on priority in the upcoming ICC Board meeting and a concrete policy should be made in this regard within 30 days keeping in mind the mental health of children. The organization has said that if necessary, it will also raise this issue with the Parliament and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Petrol-Diesel GST: Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) Chairman Brijesh Goyal has raised the demand to bring petrol and diesel under the ambit of GST amid rising prices. Today he has also written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this subject.

He has appealed to the Central Government to immediately include petrol and diesel under the ambit of GST. For a long time, businessmen, factory owners and common people have been demanding this, so that they can get relief from this huge inflation.

Heavy taxes on petrol and diesel

Brijesh Goyal, Chairman of CTI, the top organization of traders and entrepreneurs in Delhi and the country, has said that if we talk about Delhi, according to the data till May 22, the actual price of petrol was Rs 66.29, on which excise duty is Rs 11.90 and VAT is Rs 16.03, while the dealer’s margin was Rs 4.42. The actual price of diesel was Rs 67.36, excise duty was Rs 7.80 and VAT was Rs 13.39, while the dealer margin was Rs 3.03.

He told that today around 42% tax is levied on the actual price of petrol including excise duty and VAT while diesel is levied around 32% tax. According to CTI, petrol is the most expensive in Telangana in the country because the highest VAT on petrol in Telangana is 35.2%, whereas in Andaman and Nicobar, petrol is the cheapest there due to only 1% VAT on diesel.

Petrol and diesel come under the purview of GST

Brijesh Goyal has said in a letter to PM Modi that when GST was implemented in 2017, there was talk of One Nation One Tax and it was said that there will be uniform tax and uniform rate on everything in the country, but all the states are arbitrarily charging VAT on petrol and diesel as per their own. Due to this, the rates of petrol and diesel are different in every state.

Due to this, the concept of One Nation One Tax is also being attacked. In such a situation, excise duty and VAT on petrol and diesel should be abolished and brought under the purview of GST. This will not only make the rates of petrol and diesel uniform across the country but will also reduce the rates of petrol and diesel.

LPG Cylinder Booking Tax: Due to increasing tension in the Middle East, gas supply is being seriously affected. Its direct impact is visible on the prices of LPG in India. Recently, the government had increased the prices of domestic and commercial gas cylinders, due to which people are facing a lot of problems, but in the meantime, the Chamber of Trade Industry (CTI) has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding to make LPG and PNG tax-free.

CTI says that if the tax on these is removed, then the prices of gas will fall, due to which the common people can get a lot of relief.

At present, 5 percent GST is levied on domestic LPG cylinders, while up to 18 percent GST is levied on commercial cylinders. If we talk about PNG, it is not yet under the purview of GST and state governments levy VAT on it at different rates, which ranges from about 3 percent to 14.5 percent. For example, 5 percent VAT is applicable on PNG in Delhi.

LPG will be cheaper after GST is removed

Domestic LPG Cylinder: Currently its price in Delhi is Rs 913. After removal of GST, it will remain around Rs 870, i.e. it will be cheaper by around Rs 43.

Commercial Cylinder: Its price in Delhi is Rs 2078. After removal of GST, it will become approximately Rs 1760, i.e. there will be a saving of around Rs 318.

People will get relief by removing GST

CTI Chairman Brijesh Goyal has appealed to the government that tax relief should be given in view of the current circumstances. He believes that this will not only benefit the common consumers but will also provide relief to small businesses. Other officials of the organization say that due to the increasing crisis in West Asia, there has been instability in the global oil and gas market, due to which the demand in India has also increased.

Especially in Delhi, a rapid increase in the number of PNG connections has been seen. While in February 2026, about 686 new connections were being added every day, by March this figure increased to about 2000 every day. Overall, if the government gives tax exemption on LPG and PNG, it will provide great relief to the general public.

LPG Cylinder Crisis Iran War: The impact of the ongoing war and increasing tension in Western Asia has now reached the kitchens of the common people of India. The shortage of LPG is increasing across the country and especially in Delhi, while the demand for PNG is increasing rapidly. However, the taxes imposed on both these fuels are putting additional burden on the pockets of the general public and traders.

Brijesh Goyal, Chairman of the Chamber of Trade and Industry, the top organization of businessmen of Delhi and the country, has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding this serious issue. In the letter, he has raised the demand to make LPG and PNG completely tax free, so that the common people can get relief.

Different tax burden on LPG

According to the organization, currently 5 percent GST is levied on residential LPG in India, while this tax on commercial cylinders reaches 18 percent. In such a situation, it is having a direct impact on business activities.

PNG is also not untouched by tax

Although PNG does not currently come under the purview of GST, VAT ranging from 3 percent to 14.5 percent is levied on it in different states. 5 percent VAT is applicable on PNG in Delhi, which increases its cost.

Brijesh Goyal says that the Central Government should reduce GST on LPG to zero and VAT on PNG should also be completely abolished. He believes that this will provide great relief to both consumers and traders across the country.

Domestic impact of global crisis

According to CTI Senior Vice President Deepak Garg and Vice President Rahul Gandhi, the increasing conflict in West Asia has created a global oil and gas crisis. Its effect is clearly visible in India, where there is a shortage of LPG and a rise in the demand for PNG.

Sharp jump in PNG connections in Delhi

General Secretaries Gurmeet Arora and Ramesh Ahuja said that the number of people taking PNG connections in Delhi has increased rapidly. While in February 2026, an average of 686 connections were being given daily, in March this figure has reached around 2000.

Despite this, there are about 56 lakh domestic LPG connections in Delhi. In such a situation, both the availability and price of gas remain a matter of great concern for the common people.

Delhi news: The Confederation of All India Traders (CAT) and the Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) have appealed to the countrymen to fully boycott the visits to Turkey and Azerbaijan and also stop trade with these countries. Because these two countries are openly supporting Pakistan, which promotes its policies against India.

CAT’s National General Secretary and MP from Chandni Chowk, Praveen Khandelwal, called it an issue of national interest and said that this step of Indians will have a profound impact on the economy, especially the tourism sector.

The cancellation of wedding ceremonies and corporate events will cause major damage

Kat has made it clear that they will work closely with travel and tour operator organizations to boycott Türkiye and Azerbaijan’s visits. Apart from this, a final decision will be taken to close business with these countries at the national conference of business leaders to be held in New Delhi on 16 May.

Praveen Khandelwal said that in 2024, 62.2 million foreign tourists went to Türkiye, of which 3 lakh were Indians. Indian tourists spent around $ 291.6 million there. If Indian tourists stop going to Türkiye, then Turkish economy will get a big shock. Apart from this, the cancellation of wedding ceremonies and corporate events by Indians there will be more damaged.

Talking about Azerbaijan, in 2024 there were 2.6 million foreign tourists, of which 2.5 lakh Indians were Indians. These Indian tourists spent about $ 308.6 million. Khandelwal said that if Indian tourists stop visiting Azerbaijan, then there may be economic recession in areas like tourism, entertainment, and marriage. This loss will not only be economic, but will also affect cultural exchange.

‘India should completely stop import-export from China and Türkiye’

Local businesses like hotels, restaurants, and tour operators will also be affected. Khandelwal stressed that this step would force Türkiye and Azerbaijan to rethink their policies towards India. On the other hand, CTI has also taken a tough stand against Türkiye and China. CTI chairman Brijesh Goyal said that China and Türkiye are earning billions of dollars from India markets and tourism, but these countries are supporting Pakistan under Indo-Pak tension.

Appeal to 700 business organizations of Delhi

He has appealed to 700 merchant organizations of Delhi to completely stop import-export from China and Türkiye. CTI has launched a campaign in Kashmiri Gate Market and plans to pursue it in more than 100 markets in Delhi. Goyal has demanded from the government that imports from China should be immediately banned and e-commerce policies should be tightened, so that consumers know which country they are buying goods.

‘Dependence on Chinese goods will have to be reduced’

CTI also said that India will have to reduce dependence on Chinese goods. Its goods such as chemical, pharma, electronics, toys, and automobile parts come from China on a large scale. Goyal suggested that the Government of India should find their options, such as increasing production in the country or importing from other countries. From Türkiye, India imports goods such as mineral fuel, inorganic chemical, and cotton, while India exports engineering goods, petroleum, and medicines to Turkey. CTI believes that by exploring other options for these goods, India can create economic pressure on these countries.

The purpose of this appeal of CAT and CTI is not only to cause economic loss, but also to give a strong political message. Khandelwal said that India is stronger than ever before Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Indian traders can go to any extent for the security and integrity of the country.

This step will not only force Türkiye and Azerbaijan to think on their policies, but will also be a big step towards India becoming self -sufficient. It remains to be seen how much the country and the government support this campaign.
