The complete picture of the new academic year has come to light for lakhs of students and their parents studying in government schools of Delhi. Directorate of Education Delhi has released the school calendar for the session 2026-27. In this calendar, everything from studies, exams, holidays, admission process and preparation for competitive exams is explained with clear dates. The new session will start from April 1 and the school routine will follow this plan.

According to the calendar, summer holidays will be from 11 May to 30 June. There will be a holiday from 17th to 19th in October. Winter holidays have been fixed from January 1 to January 15, 2027. Whereas midterm examinations for classes 3 to 12 will be held between September 15 and October 13. Annual examinations will be conducted for classes 3, 9 and 11 from 15 February to 23 March 2027 and the results will be declared by the end of March.

Preparation for competitive exams also in the calendar

This time, not only school studies but also time for preparation for big entrance exams has been added to the calendar. The deadline for registration for exams like Joint Entrance Examination Main, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, Common University Entrance Test and Common Law Admission Test has been announced in July. With this, students will be able to plan and prepare in advance.

Special preparation for CUET

CUET exam conducted by NTA will be held in the form of computer based test in May. This examination opens the way for admission in 47 central universities and many colleges of the country. Online registration is likely to start in the first week of April.

When to take admission in class 11

After the declaration of class 10 results, the admission process for class 11 will start. Whereas for non-plan admission in class 10 and 12, Common Admission Test will be held on 25th April and its result will be declared on 28th April.

Non-plan admission in class 6 to 9

Under non-plan category, admission for classes 6 to 9 will be online in three phases. The first phase will run from 12 noon on April 1 to 5 pm on April 7. The second phase will be from 30 April to 25 May and the third phase will be from 1 July to 25 July. The first phase of school allotment will take place on April 21 and document verification will be conducted from April 22 to 30. The entire process will be completed by 31st August.

Age Limit and Help Center

For admission in classes 6 to 9 till March 31, 2026, the age should be between 10 to 15 years. The school administration may give relaxation in some special cases. A central helpline has also been created for admission related queries and there will be a provision of help desk at the school level.

How will the registration be done?

Parents will have to register their children online. Children who are already studying in a government or aided school will complete the transfer or re-admission process from their old school. Those children between 10 to 14 years who are out of school can go to their nearest school and register. There, after checking their basic studies, they will be placed in the appropriate class.
